Question about Line 6 Spider Iii 120 Stereo Guitar Combo Amplifier

1 Answer

When i power up my line 6 spider 3 ( i think it has two 75 watt speakers) all the lights work but no sound at all no static or speaker sound even at full volume. cable checks out, but even with a bad cable you would hear some amount of noise static or white noise if power is going to the speakers. the on board tuner also does not work. the amp is two years old not used very much maybe 20 times total. is there a fuse internal can't find any thing on the outside. thanks for the help

A pilot light means almost nothing other than the power cord is plugged in and hot and the switch is on. In this case, other lights run from various DC supplies so the inout fuse is presumed to be good... NEVER replace a fuse without knowing what caused it to blow or you will usually do more damage within a unit. There are several power supplies and you will typiclly find +/-15 volts on the op amps and 3.3 volts on the processor logic. Unless something simple like the speaker cable falling off this will NOT be a DIY repair. I would look to see if this speaker cable might have fallen off and ALSO check if you get any sound using headphones.

My Line 6 Spider II 210 won't make any sound from the guitar. When the amp powers on, the speakers pop a little so I know they are connected right. All of the lights are on and the channels can switch...

Bad soldering, especially around the jacks and plugs. Crack in the circuit board. Bad switch contacts on the headphone jack... all these are first things to check.
Here is your service manual for the unit:

Line 6 spider ii. As soon as I turn on the power I get a huming sound. can not adjust anything. The only sound is the hum. Could it be a transformer problem! much appreciated

Not a transformer problem... this is likely filter capacitors, rectifiers, and PROBABLY a bad amp chip. Service this before it wrecks the speaker.

My line 6 spider iii30 30 watt amp works with

There is likely a switch contact on the headphone jack that routes the amp output to the speaker. These jacks on most music stuff are JUNK and the contact may not be closing.

If the spring contact is bent so it won't close you can bend it to contact BUT the springyness usually is gone and the contact will be marginal.

I have a spider III 15W amp that has worked for a year. plugged in last night and it's getting power but no sound. Not even a hum from the speaker. checked everything and it's definitely the amp....

Try disconnecting the speaker from the amp with the amp unplugged from your power. Never work on an amp when its plugged in unless you know how dangerous it is. Check for resistance across the speaker terminals with a volt ohm meter to see if you have a blown speaker. Thats the first thing to look for. You should here a hiss or a low hum when your amp is on and you plug a guitar cord into the input without the guitar. Check those two things first.
