Look into the convergence circuit area, check the convergence amp's, bad solder the convergence module, & for the possible bad stk's.

I have mentioned the list of no. of flashes and their solution:

ONE Blink--- not used for the self-diagnosis
TWO Blinks---B+ over current protection (OCP) , unit goes to the standby
mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of
    any of the circuits.
THREE Blinks---B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby
mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power
supply circuit, check T603 and R672.
FOUR Blinks---No Vert. Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single
horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505
FIVE Blinks---AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about
30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with
the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C
board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking,
    try turning up screen slightly.
SIX Blinks---No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking selfdiagnosis
function immediately. Check C515 & 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.
SEVEN Blinks---High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k
and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply
    regulation and horizontal circuits.
EIGHT Blinks---Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and
blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.
Intermittent problems ?? This is a great feature. You can also bring up
these fault codes ON-SCREEN to see a list of the problem numbers with the
abbreviation of the problem and the number of times this problem has
occurred. This is slightly different than entering the service mode. To see the
diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
    codes.
So, now that you know about these self-diagnostics, how do you use them?
Say that you have a set with a black screen. You see that the LED is blinking
4 times....This would tell you that you have no vertical and that is why the
video is muted. If it was blinking 6 times, you would know that you have a
    horizontal fault.
It's not a sure cure, but it's a little better than a poke in the eye with a sharp
    stick.
IMPORTANT: after you repair the unit, PLEASE clear the values on this diagnostic screen. These codes do not reset themselves after the fault is 0 corrected, so if you don't clear them, you'll be seeing "old" fault codes the
next time you enter this screen. Clearing is done by going into the service mode ( display, channel, 5, volume plus, then power ) then press 8 and Enter, which of course returns
everything to the factory preset condition.

Please don't forget to rate or accept the solution

You seem to be having a problem with the power relay. You may have to get this replaced. It could also be an issue with some other component on the power board/circuit.

I recommend getting a qualified TV repairman to check this and give you a correct diagnosis, as some testing may be required to correctly isolate and identify the faulty component(s).

I dont recommend you doing this if you have no prior experience, but you will have to replace the capacitors on the board. There are a total of 19 capacitors: 3x 1000uf 16v, 2x 470uf 16v, 3x 470uf 25v, 2x 1000uf 25v, 6x 1000uf 35v, and 1x 470uf 35v, as well as the 2 main filter capacitors that are 100uf 450v.

You can get the full service manual from here:
    http://www.nodevice.com/manual/newmans/l...

It will give you details as to the location of these capacitors. You dont have to replace them all. Just look for the ones that have swollen tops..they are faulty.

Once again, beware when dismantling TV's, as there are voltages inside that can KILL , even if it is unplugged. In my honest opinion, it would be best to let a qualified professional do this.

Kindly take a moment to 'Accept" this solution if it was helpful to you.

is it possible to turn tv on manually? if it is, problem is with remote
control. if it isn't, i believe its a problem with power supply.if it is too high, tv will not turn on.Front lead blinking red indicates that it is gone into the standby mode.
I strongly recommend you to get it repaired.

Please cooperate with Irishdruid. He will help you fix it up and make sure you rate his solution.
Hemantraj that list is only for sony TV models not for Akai.

Hi,it sounds like a problem with your ballast. The ballast is the board that powers the lamp .When it starting to fail it will make clicking sounds. The part is around $40-$60 depending where you look for it.I believe there's instructions on youtube.Have a bless one!

Hitachi 51UWX20B no sound, no picture, blinking green LED

The 392-150 is a higher current device then the 110---you can use either--this is normal in the hitachi sets---I usually replace both with 150's---check the led that does not light---should indicate which voltage source is bad---if it is one of the 2 voltages for the convergence ic's(one is a positive and the other a negative voltage) then the convergence Ic's may be bad---look for any discolored resistors around the ic's---one way to tell if it is a convergence ic is to de-solder both ic's and see if the set turns on(the convergence will be out the window) but if it comes on change both and do the alignments with the Hitachi remote. By the way----the led should have a location number printed on the top of the circuit board.

TV won't come on!

Most likely, this is a problem with the convergence board. The convergence amps (STK392-040 x 2)are internally shorted. These can be replaced or the whole convergence board can be replaced. It's cheaper to replace the amps, but more convienent to replace the board (especially for the less electronically inclined!! :) Also, this could be from a leaking CRT. In CRT projection televisions, the red, green, and blue tube are filled with coolent (glycol). These 42" models are very bad about the tubes leaking (Akai and Samsung models)and are infamous for destroying the CRT driver board connected to the bottom of each tube. When this happens, the protection circuit kicks in and will not let the television start up. *PLEASE, FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, DO NOT FOLLOW THESE NEXT STEPS IF YOU HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT!!!! There are four screws and three snap clips that hold the bottom on. UNPLUG THE TELEVISION, remove the screws and pull bottom outward to remove. The bottoms of the three tubes should be visible. DON'T TOUCH THEM!! Now look under each tube. If one is leaking, there will be a wet spot (or sometimes a puddle!) underneath the tube. This will have to be serviced by a TV tech. Hope this helps...
