Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Hi there, I am having connecting my Hahnel Wireless Remote to my Nikon D90, I have not used the camera in a while and as far as I can remember, all you have to do is connect the remote to the camera. I can't find the manual anywhere. I feel I may be overlooking something really obvious. Thank you in advance.

To use the wireless remote, you need to set the camera's shooting mode to one of the remote modes. The quick-response remote mode fires the shutter when you press the button on the remote. The delayed remote mode waits two seconds for you to hide the remote behind your back.

You can download a PDF copy of the manual from

How to use remote shutter release HRN280

First, you need an adapter to fit the HRN280 to the D90. You can order this adapter by emailing sales@hahnel.ie .

Using the adapter, connect the release to the jack in the side of the D90. After that, simply use the button on the release the same way you use the shutter release button on the camera. Press it halfway to focus and meter, press it all the way to take a picture. In addition, the remote has a slide lock so you can take continuous pictures or use the bulb setting.

How do you make the ML-L3 wireless remote controller for Nikon D7000 work?

Press the release mode dial lock release and turn the release mode dial to the remote control position.

Full details are in the "Release Mode" section of the manual (page 77 in my copy).

Just got a 500mm f8.0 Telephoto Lens for my Nikon D90. When I connect it according to the instructions I am certain I have mounted the lens properly to my camera, I have a universal T mount to connect to...

The lens lacks the electronics to communicate with the camera. You must switch the camera to Manual exposure mode by turning the mode dial to M. The lens has only aperture, f/8, and so you have to control the exposure by changing the shutter speed and/or ISO. Unfortunately, the D90's light meter will not give you any help here.

You can get a general idea of the exposure by using another lens before mounting the 500mm. From there you can fine-tune the exposure by using the histogram display on the LCD monitor. This is how I do it with my D90 and 500mm lens.

Hahnel remote shutter release where do I pug it into a Nikon d90?

Assuming it's the proper model, it goes into the connector under the lower cover on the left side of the camera (away from the handgrip) marked "GPS." The connector is also used for the GP-1 GPS unit, thus the marking.

Hi, I have a Hahnel remote control for my Nikon camera... this worked well with my D60, but I cannot make it work with my D300. Both parts are working, but not each other! have the setting to self timer......

Check to see if the D300 remote setting is turned on in the camers settings if so it is possible the two cameras work on different frequencies so a different remote will have to be used.

Hahnel 280 nikon d90

Make sure you're using the right connector and have it plugged into the bottom port of the D90. Make sure the D90 is NOT set to one of the remote shooting modes.

Compare the Nikon d80 to the new d90. Can I use all my manual focus lenses from my Nikon film cameras? Also, all my filters and flashes.

All old lenses will work on the D90 the same way they work on the D80. Filters depend on the lens -- they either fit or they don't -- the camera has nothing to do with that. I wouldn't use old flashes on new DSLRs.

There really is no difference between the D80 and the D90 as far as lenses and flashes are concerned.
