Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I bought a Huawei Wireless gateway Router model E960 through Safaricom Kenya. The router has been functional for close to one year but later on It could not work in my cyber cafe.I tried connecting to many other computers but it could only connect with a high speed computer of 2.6 Ghz .When I connect to a computer it normally prompts me for a pass word which I enter thereafter,it will show that the device is not connected or unavailable then it does not show any network. What could be the problem?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

SOURCE: speedstream 6520 wireless gateway not working

I deal with these routers on a daily basis w/ Frontier. Likley the radio is getting hott and its starting to burn out.. Put your hand on the radio, see if its running rather hott. If it is, unplugg it for an hour. If your a frontier customer, call tech support, get it replaced!

SOURCE: I use 2wire 1701 HG Gateway for 3 computers. I

Hello hopefully ican hel solve your issue i have a 2wire modem myself ans have found that 2wire products are very picky. To answer your question for 2wire products when you try to connect wirelessly it wants you to type in the wep key which is the serial number of the product otherwise you are unable to connect. Now as far as losing your password if you are able to get into the 2wire product via browser so you can bring up the main software page you can try to see if you can get too any info that relates to resetting your info like username and password. Otherwise do a search for your product and search forums and you will most likely find someone that has had to recover there info and they will tell you how they do it. Good luck

My wireless modem is e960

If there is a reset hole at the back insert a small paperclip into the hole and hold it for 30 seconds.
If not try this from a command prompt

First enter the command erase mtd5 (Enter), then reboot (Enter), which will reset the router to its factory default state.

Wireless set up problem - no gateway ip or limited connectivity

Connect using Lan Cable
be sure to enable java on your Browser.
Use ONLY IE: some router refuse other browser.
SET your PC on a static IP address on SAME subnet as your router (but of course different IP).
If subnet concept is NOT clear to just just ask here.
When connected with router (on Lan Cable) check every setting (WPA-PSK) TKIP key, Broadcast / Channel etc.
You can also disable every WLAN protection and restore it later.
Activate WLAN connection WHEN you are STILL connected.
Last but not least: SET your DNS IP address = your gateway IP (router)
