The static convergeance requires attention.
Obtain a cross hatch generator and see if the error is uniform. If it is then moving the red static adjustment will affect a cure. If it is not uniform then there is a convergeance driver fault. Normally caused by a power failure on the convergeance panel.
Hope this helps.

Hi,

The problem you are experiencing is due to a failure in the convergence section of your set.

If you have some electronics experience, and soldering experience, you can repair this set at home.I can help you. However, it is not the easiest set to work on and definitely not for beginners.so if you don't have any experience I would highly recommend having a shop perform this repair. It typically should range from 200-300 dollars.

If you have experience repairing electronics, then i believe you could do it yourself.

I can talk you through this, But an easier way would be to point you in this direction - This kit is $76.95, and includes full directions, WITH photos included for reference..

If you have a soldering iron, and a screwdriver, I know you can do this!!

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

You need to turn down the voltage on all 3 crt's. You have a red one, a blue one and a green one. Slowly adjust the knob down until you don't see the shadow any more. Then adjust your color in the user menu.

I just replaced the color wheel on my samsung hln5065w. Picture is great but there is a shadow on the right side of screen from top to bottom. The shadow on the top of the screen is wider across the screen...

Its a Good Possibilty that its the New Color Wheel causing this,if the colors are not complete on the color wheel then that will be why you are seeing shadow on right hand side of screen.
I know I ordered color wheel for mine and had to send it back,it did the same thing.
I compared it to the old color wheel and the new one did not have Solid colors on it.

Can you see picture behind the shadow? or is it shadow and no picture?

Color shadowing on screen

I had similar symptoms about a year ago. Also came on sudden. The red convergence chip had burned out (poor heat sinking on this model Hitachi). Replacing the color convergence chips fixed it. ($50 for parts.) First, however, have you tried the "magic focus" function? That's explained in the manual, which is available online IIRC, but I'd have to look for the link if you need it.

Pt-47wx49e convergence problem

I just replaced the 2 convergance chips, but it did not seem to fix the problem. I then tested all the resistors that feed the convergence chips anf there was a 2.2 ohm fusable blown. IT was R7050 on mine. That seemed to fix it so that I could adjust all the colors through the convergence 2 screen. There seems to be a slight bow near the bottom when you look at the c2 screen, but not noticable when you are watching a picture. Since I got this broken, I am not sure how perfect it should be.

If anyone can send me the service manual, I would appretiate it. Thanks.
