Question about Epson RX595 Photo All-In-One Printer
I've had this printer about 7 months now and it has had an intermittent problem since day one. It would occasionally, when turned on, put a multi plug icon on the taskbar and the printer would not function. Checking for the driver, it would state none was installed. Checking in Windows device manager it would state " Unknown Device " .Turning off the printer and turning it on would not work and only when turning off the computer for the night and rebooting the next day then trying the printer again would it start to function again. Even rebooting when the problem occurred would not work.
I uninstalled the driver and went to the Epson web site for the most current driver and installed. There was no change. I've put up with this and finally this past week contacted Epson looking for a solution. Their advice, replace the driver. I was kind of reluctant and held off for a few days thinking it might make things worse as the installed driver is the most current. Yesterday I took their advice and now the printer does not work at all.
My operating system is Windows XP Pro. The RX595 is USB direct connect with no hub. I purchased a new USB cable, no change. I disconnected all USB devices on my computer and tried printer, no change. I changed all devices USB inputs and everything works no matter where it is plugged in with the exception of the Epson RX595.
I read that XP creates a virtual port named "USB printing support",for USB Printers whenever you switch on the printer. now what might be happening is that whenever I switch on the printer, XP creates the virtual port again and can't find the drivers for it to work with. I can't come up with a solution. Any consideration and advice you can offer would be much appreciated. I thank you.
Assuming you properly installed the "printer driver".
disconnect the printer.
check Printer & Faxes for printer icon(s) - delete print queue(s) and the printer icon(s).
open device manager and go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers section.
now we check for connectivity: (treat the printer and scanner as separate devices)
connect the printer, USB Printing support must show up (also check Imaging Devices and the scanner must also show up)
IF USB Printing support shows, windows will create a printer icon in the Printers & Faxes, right click choose properties and print a test page.
ELSE, it's the printer and request for a replacement if it is still within 1 year from the date of purchase
