Question about Bissell 37604 Lift-Off Pet Bagless Upright / Canister Vacuum CleanerVacuum

Lift-Off Pet Hair vacuum doesn't lift off pet hair!

This vacuum has difficulty with suction of dog hair and collection. The hair gets sucked up but stays up around the foam filter area instead of dropping down into the collection container. I have rinsed off the foam filter and allowed it to totally dry before putting it back on. There are no clogs in the hose, or inlet near the roller. The long, filter on the back of the unit likely needs to be replaced, but I don't know if it has anything at all to do with the issue. Regardless, it's not working and I need my house vacuumed! Any help is appreciated.

Thank you for trying. Sadly, that's why I bought the vacuum that advertised it is especially made for pet hair. I went on the Bissell site and found that I have three filters, I only knew of two. There is a filter in a drawer located under the collection container. The filter can be washed and dried, then returned to the vacuum. It fixed the problem of the hair not dropping down to the collection container and hanging out around the motor. I really appreciate you helping out like this, you are likely correct. My mom has an Electrolux cannister vacuum that's about 40 years old and it is WONDERFUL with pet hair.

everything goes directly to the foam filter and nothing goes into the cannister. also alot of dust seems to appear on the outside of the vacum.

Very light "stuff" like dog hair will get stuck to the filter since that is where the suction goes. it's primary purpose was to keep dust out of the motor. This is a problem with many "bagless" cleaners. A bagged cleaner keeps all dirt and hair away from filters by utilizing the bag as primary filter. If you have alot of dog hair then this may have been the incorrect choice of a vac. all you can do is brush off the filter each time you use the vac. it will still pick up o.k. even when there is hair on the filter unless you leave it on day after day.

What's the best vacuum for pet hair?

Try a bagless vacuum cleaner as hair blocks up bags very quickly. One that is around 2000 watts should have enough power to do the job. As for the price check appliance stores for sales and deals.

Why does my filter collect so much dog hair and decreases the suction of the machine. I clean and change (alternate) filters everytime I vacumn, that isn't normal, is it? It seems like I have a seal or...

You obviously have a pet and it's good to see your machine is doing it's job. The only reason you could lose suction while collecting pet hair is due to the pet hair being a solid mass and air not been able to flow through the filters.( must be a lot of hair). Suction loss is only when the particles passing through your machine are dense therefore it will reduce suction and airflow . Very common on vacuum cleaners. Do not worry too much . Also check to see if you have Amy cracks in the seal between the drum and the vacuum cleaner itself

The brush is clean and spinning but it isnt picking up anything and just pushing pet hair around.

You mentioned pet hair. Remove the brush cover and check for a plug (possibly pet hair). Sounds as though you have a plug somewhere and it's not allow the suction to pull it through. Also check your filter and clean or replace as necessary. Hint; Never let you container get over half full, it reduces the suction.

When vacuuming hardwood floor, hair gathers on brush and never sucks into vacuum. I spend most of my time cleaning off brushes. How do I clean hardwood floor with dog hairs.

1. Broom and dust pan, then mop
2. Wet dry vac with wide non-brush attachment
3. Here's a link to a vacuum professing to clean pet hairs well

http://www.evvive.com/shop-by-brand/miele-open-box-canister-vacuums/miele-s516-cat-dog-vacuum_2

4. Try to find a wide attachment for the hose that has no brush, maybe something from a wet dry vac.

5. Take your dog outside and brush every day. It helps, but no matter what you do, you will have pet hair if you have an indoor pet.

6. Go to the source. See if your dog will be vacuumed. Half serious on this one.

Good luck!

I have a Lift Off Pet Bagless upright and ever since I **** up a hair tie it hasn't been **** up the dog hair from my carpet. I have gotten the hair tie out of the vacuum but it is still not **** up.

One of the reasons it might not be picking up is because you have a worn belt. The other reason could be that the suction channel is clogged. Did you remove the hair tie you ****up? If you need a replacement belt you can get it here: Bissell Lift-Off Pet Replacement Belt
