Hello, I recently purchased a new battery for my dell laptop as I thought that was the reason it was not turning on. After putting the battery in and letting it charge 12 hrs it still does not turn on. is it the battery or the laptop?

Hmmm, that is a good one. I take it the battery is a brand new one as if it were second hand, it may be faulty.
Does the laptop work on mains power? If it doesn't then you have issues with the mother board.
Does the charge light flash? If it does the battery is still charging and needs more time.

It is worth contacting Dell direct on the www as they have a lot of usefull suggestions and there is no point in me adding them to this note.
Hope that helps.

I have used a web site for purchasing several replacement laptop batteries, it's called richbattery.com. Both the branded and richbattery.com batteries come with same warranty, both are new, both are the same rating, money back guarantee and I would bet both come from the same factory in China!!! . I've recently bought a new charger for my dell inspiron 1525. The green light still shines when its plugged in, but it doesnt appear to be charging the laptop itself. Before, i would have put it down...

enter the bios with F12 and battery status somewhere, you have to see if the battery is charging.
1 - if you do not recharge the battery, you can try a new battery if the battery schimnabata no (new) option 2 then it does not load.
2 - is necessary to change the motherboard, because the battery charging mode does not function normally.
warranty if you go to them to do.

Hi
I think the battery you bought is not compartible with your pc notebook that is why you are experiencing such problem. All you need to do is to get to the store or outlrt where you got the battery and get it replaced for a compartible battery or better still you should go along with your system.

Adapter is plugged in, but not charging for my Dell Inspiron 1526. Any thoughts?

turn on the machine and as soon as you turn on the machine keep on tapping f2 which takes you to BIOS screen, In the system option come to the Battery info and if it is showing battery and shows ac adapter as none it means adapter is faulty if it shows ac adapter type unknown then be prepared to purchase a new system board for your laptop

Dell C800 Laptop dies when unplugged

Check the pins that connects the computer to the battery. Something might be bent and wouldn't make contact with the battery. Turn the system on with both the battery and ac adapter plugged in. Press F12 on the Dell splash screen. Go to Page 4 (press ALT-P to move to pages). Check if the battery is detected. If not then the motherboard needs to be replaced.

You can contact Dell Spare Parts dept: 1-800-357-3355. Just give them the service tag of the system so they'll know the part number of the motherboard.

If you think this is helpful, please rate it.
