The freezer leaks water. We've tried defrosting it but there is still water in the back that doesn't drain away.

There is a small hole in the back of the freezer that lets the water drain into the bucket in the rear of the applaince. This hole will need to bee cleared as it is blocked. Use something like a bottle brush and push down the hole as far as you can go. Don't worry you can't damage anything. The hole is located behind you bottom basket through a small grill that covers your evaporator. It may need some hot water over the hole first it if it is frosted over again.

Hope this helps

Water is leaking from time to time in the front of the refriderator. It's not the water feed.

Hello,

Your problem is likely that your freezer has a blocked drain which doesn't allow the water to drain to the bottom of the evaporator pan under the fridge. The lower backing INSIDE the freezer needs to be removed and the plughole cleared. Best to use a hairdryer and your fingers to remove he pool of ice buildup. Try not to use sharp objects as this can dislodge or break essential plastic pieces. Water should now drain from condensor coils during defrost mode out the drain and into the evaporator tray under the fridge. (melted water is simply evaporated away by the warm air which comes from your compressor and out of the front bottom of your fridge.)

I Hope this helps. Good luck

Ice build-up water leak

sheck the back wall of the freezer where it sits in that trough, more often than not this complaint is the fault of a defrost drain. if you can try to remove the back panal on the freezer, if its a defrost issue there willl be a huge amount of ice behind that panal blocking the defrost drain.
after you chip what you can away, you'll find that a hair dryer and hot water are the best way to get that drain clear so it wont happen again

Freezer drain plug

Self defrosting refrigerators as well as freezers all have a defrost drain system. This drain system can become plugged or frozen causing defrost drain water to back up into the refrigerator or freezer compartment. The water may gather under the crisper drawers on top freezer models. On side by side, bottom or stand alone freezers ice will build up in the freezer at the bottom and eventually leak out the door.

Plugged Defrost Drain - Freezer on Top (Water under the crisper drawers)

At the top of the refrigerator next to the temperature controls there usually is a cup-like part that carries the defrost drain water into a tube and out the back of the refrigerator to a defrost drain pan behind the unit. Pull the cup out of the tube and clean the cup with hot water and soap. If there is no cup, pull the refrigerator out away from the wall, go behind it and disconnect the drain tube to clear it. If the drain tube is not accessible from the back or the drain can not be cleared from there the main back panel in the freezer can be removed to access, thaw and flush out the drain under the cooling coil.

Use a turkey baster to flush HOT water into the tube to clear any obstruction. The water squirted into the tube should end up in the defrost drain pan.

If the tube will not clear with hot water try blowing it out with compressed air.

Put the cup back on and make sure it is all the way on or in the tube.

Plugged Defrost Drain - Side By Side, Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator or Stand Alone Freezer

The defrost drain pan is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment behind the back wall of the freezer. On some models, the pan is accessible without removing the back panel and others are not. After you get to the defrost drain pan use a hair dryer to melt the ice from the pan.

Once the ice is removed use a turkey baster to squirt HOT water into the drain hole to clear the drain.

When the drain is clear you should hear or see the water you are squirting into the hole enter the pan under or behind the refrigerator.

Freezer leaking water

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

Cannot open the bottom freezer door anymore; it seems stuck

sounds as though the defrost system has failed or the freezer defrost drain is blocked. take off the back panel of the freezer and see if excess ice build up. if so, defrost carefully with a hairdryer. at bottom is a drain. check if blocked with ice and if so melt off with hot water till water flows away freely. if i'm right, appliance will start to work. if fault re-occure then defrost system is at fault
