Will a cordless phone interfear with your internet or the cordless phone if its to close to your internet box?


A wireless router and wireless network adapters can have interference issues with cordless phones. It depends on the network adapter frequency and the cordless phone's frequency. Most problems will occur with a phone that uses 2.4GHz. This frequency will interfere with 802.11b/g networks and single-band 802.11n wireless signals.

A DECT cordless phone operates at a different frequency from the 802.11g and 802.11n single-band and will not interfere with a wi-fi network with those modes.

However, some routers and wireless adapters can use the 5GHz range (802.11n and 802.11ac, among them). These can have a problem with cordless phones that use 5.8GHz. However, there is a simple solution to avoid much of the interference at 5GHz. First determine the frequency range of your phone by getting the FCC ID from the base of the phone. Then use Google or another search engine to find "FCC ID Search Form". It has been at http://transition.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid/ in the past. The first three characters are the Grantee ID for the search form. The rest is the product ID. Look for the SAR report for the phone and then (probably on the second page) find the TX frequency range and the Max RF output power tested. Now go to the wireless router's setting page and make sure that it is using channels that do not use the same frequency and power range. Difference between high and low frequency


This would depend on which area of radio you are asking about. In FRS/GMRS there is no "low frequency" though some manufacturers may use those phrases. FRS/GMRS radios are all in the UHF range, or ultra high frequency. In amateur radio we use UFH, VHF, and HF or high frequency. Though the FCC does not allow amateur use of the LF range, there are experimental stations that are allowed to operate ther. See http://www.arrl.org/lf-low-frequency for an explanation of this. I put a sub in my 2002 Altima but when I turn it up the bass cracks on the door speakers??? What do I do to get all the bass on the sub


Hi Ethan,

What you're looking for is called a "crossover". A crossover is an electronic filter for an audio or speaker circuit. In an audio circuit, a crossover is used to prevent or pass certain frequencies or a range of frequencies from passing through it. Since your sub will reproduce the bass or low frequencies, you don't want other speakers to reproduce them. A band pass filter on your door speakers will do this for you. A band pass filter passes only a range or "band" of frequencies and blocks those that are above and below the range or band of frequencies selected. Installing a band pass filter will prevent the very high & very low frequencies from getting to the door /dash speakers. Likewise, you should consider connecting a low pass filter to your subs, too. The low pass filters work a little differently from of the way band pass filters work - they only allow low frequencies to get to the sub - blocking all the other higher frequencies (your other speakers are better suited to reproduce those). Lastly, you would install a high pass filters on tweeters. Tweeters are designed to reproduce only the high frequencies - sending mid and low frequencies to them is wasting power and can cause damage to them.

You purchase the filters for specific crossover points (the block / unblocked point) as determined by the individual speakers. If a sub has a frequency response of 20Hz - 100Hz, a low pass filter of 100Hz would be ideal. Remaining filters would need to begin at 100Hz - assuming the mid-range speakers have a frequency response beginning at 100Hz. A band pass filter of 100Hz - 3KHz would fit the bill nicely if the mid-range speakers go up to 3Khz Match the high end of the band pass to the high end of the frequency response of the mid-range speakers. Next, a high pass filter at 3KHz would allow only the high frequencies to your tweeters. Basically, you want to have the entire audible range 20Hz - 20KHz covered by the speakers and have the crossover points that match the frequency response ranges of the speakers.

If all are in 12 o'clock position they are "flat" (nothing has been added or subtracted foam input signal) If you only have bass & treble, yes adjusting will affect "mids" but Mids change can go both ways dependent on increase or decrease of Bass and /or treble. By increasing bass you will pull some mids up also. By increasing treble you'll subtract some mids.

Motorola CP-200 have frequency range 
VHF: 136–162, 146–174MHz;
UHF: 403–440, 438–470, 465–495MHz depending on the model
Motorola AXU4100 have frequency range 435 - 480 Mhz
The first model has a wider frequency range so it is best to include transmitter Motorola Axu4100 to transfer and try to receive signal to Motorola CP-200

try to scan frequency range bet 140 - 160 mhz in VHF range and 300 - 400 in UHF range for police frequencies..... ;-)

Here are some distress frequencies that are world-wide:

Civil Aviation: 121.5 MHz
Military Aviation: 243 MHz
Short Range Maritime: 156.8 MHz
Medium Range Maritime: 2182 KHz

Bear in mind that you can only tune into some of these if your scanner is able to pick up the frequencies.
