How do I reset my gateway T series laptop What's the button combination?

Gateway does not provide recovery CDs for their laptops. Instead, they provide a recovery partition on the hard drive that can be used to restore the laptop to its original factory settings. To access the recovery partition, you will need to press a specific key or combination of keys when the laptop is first turned on. This key or combination of keys will vary depending on the model of laptop you have. You can find instructions for accessing the recovery partition in the laptop's user manual or on Gateway's

In general try using the Windows Repair Menu by pressing F8 during startup, after the BIOS and POST screens have been displayed. Usually the option for a factory reset will be inside the first menu choice. It is also quite common for the key combination of CTRL + F11 held down during the POST screen to activate your laptop's factory restore process.

Aside from these options, if you can successfully boot the computer and load the Windows desktop, many Gateway computers have an option for running factory restore inside the Gateway folder under the Start menu.

Motherboard side of video cable, should be under the Switch Cover, (LED indicators, Power On button, speakers, etc), or under the Keyboard close to the Switch Cover.

Don't forget to remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery. (Use CARE. Wires going to Switch Cover. Do not cut them by accident, or pull on them when removing Switch Cover )

The fn button on my gateway is the last button on the left in the first row. You should have gotten a diagram with your netbook. Please look at it, it may be in your manual.

I'm not aware of a Gateway NV500 Series line, of Notebook PC's.
I would like you to look on the bottom of your Gateway laptop, for the exact model number.

Are you referring to the Gateway NV5207U?
It's part of the Gateway NV50 Series. (One of the one's sold at Bestbuy?)

While I wait on the exact model number, let me give you the page for the User Manual for the NV52 Series.

The Power On button is on the Right side of the laptop.
It's in the round hinge for the LCD screen.

The symbol on it is an international one. It's a circle with a line coming part way into the top. The top middle of the circle.

Would be kind of perplexing also, if you went to use the laptop, and couldn't get the Touchpad to work.

Once I have the exact model number we can proceed forward, if the Gateway NV5207u is not the laptop in question.

Taken apart, looking for abnormal solder etc checked powers switches decided that this unit was acting like it may have shut down due to excessive heat issue. pulled battery on board, tested ok, re-installed everything and found that this unit now is active. Conclusion: I suspect the bios shut this unit down, hard reset correct this issue.
