I would like a manual so that i may use my new computer, i am on a friends computer
I'm not aware of a Gateway NV500 Series line, of Notebook PC's.
I would like you to look on the bottom of your Gateway laptop, for the exact model number.
Are you referring to the Gateway NV5207U?
It's part of the Gateway NV50 Series. (One of the one's sold at Bestbuy?)
While I wait on the exact model number, let me give you the page for the User Manual for the NV52 Series.
Never mind! 17.79MB's of anything but where the Power On button is, and what the basic parts of the laptop are!
Sheesh!
Here is the page to download the Gateway NV50 Series User Reference Guide,
http://support.gateway.com/s/notebook/2009/gateway/nv/nv52/NV52ul.shtml
On this page scroll down to - Gateway NV50 Series Reference Guide - English, and Left-click on it.
This is a PDF file download. (The computer you are on now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files)
It takes a few seconds to see the first page. It takes an additional 24 seconds or so, to fully download the file.
I advise letting the file fully download before looking through it. Otherwise you might break the download connection.
The first page is solid Black. The second page is solid White.
Should you not be aware of how to use a PDF file, and/or, want to burn off a copy to your computer, come back, and state so.
This reference guide shows the basic views of the laptop, the various function buttons, all about the Keyboard, and other details.
On this same Gateway Support page, is the Gateway Quick Start for Windows 7. It's listed at the bottom.
The Power On button is on the Right side of the laptop.
It's in the round hinge for the LCD screen.
The symbol on it is an international one. It's a circle with a line coming part way into the top. The top middle of the circle.
This is a video on Youtube, showing a user un-boxing his Gateway NV5207u. I included it to show more of where the Power On button is, and also that there is an Enable/Disable button for the Touchpad.
Would be kind of perplexing also, if you went to use the laptop, and couldn't get the Touchpad to work.

Once I have the exact model number we can proceed forward, if the Gateway NV5207u is not the laptop in question.
