How to Convert Protected AAC to MP3 / WMA

Apple is now promoting its AAC music pricing at 3 leyers across the board by encouraging consumer to upgrade to iTunes Plus for DRM-free, although Apple listed various advantage of music in AAC over MP3, people keep looking for "AAC to MP3 converter" to convert AAC to MP3/WMA, why?

Why Convert Protected AAC to MP3 / WMA?

(1). iTunes AAC music has two types --- DRM protected AAC (with .m4p file name); Non-DRM AAC (with .m4a file name).
(2). For Non-DRM AAC (M4A) music, most of the popular digital devices can't play them, for example, if you have iriver and want enjoy iTunes M4A music on it, sorry, no luck!
(3). For DRM protected AAC (M4P) songs, only Apple's ipod, iPhone are authorized to play them, of course, with limited number of iPod players and computers to which to transfer.
(4). MP3 and WMA are the most popular audio formats for most of the digital players including PSP, PS3, Zune, Xbox 360, creative Zen, Archos, Iriver, Blackberry, Samsung, Sonywalkman, HTC, Sansa, Cowon etc.

Converting protected AAC to MP3/WMA needs a all-round application that can remove DRM and convert AAC to MP3 both.

Why Choose DRM Music Converter to convert Protected AAC to MP3 / WMA?

DRM Music Converter can:
(1). Remove DRM from online stores like iTunes, Zune Marketplace, Napster, Rhapsody etc.

video formats: M4V (protected MP4), protected WMV, protected ASF.
(3). Support output audio formats: WMA, M4A, MP3, AC3, OGG, APE, WAV, MKA.

Then you can:

Can I use itunes to load music onto my mp3 player?

Your Philips player decodes MP3 / WMA / FLAC etc formats, where as the I tunes encodes the music into a format called AAC designed only for Apple products like I pod / I phone etc. So you cannot play AAC files on your Philips MP3 player. The answer is NO.

I just got a coby mp3 player for my wife, but all

I-Tunes is very proprietory, the music player is encoded on an AAC codec. The coby player is going to play Mp3 codec. There is only one way to get your music off of the itunes music engine and on to your Windows Media Player, which the coby will recognize. You need to basically make cd's of your music and then reload them onto your Windows Media Player. Unless you loaded the music from your own cd's it will be an arduos task. If you loaded the music into Itunes from your own cd's then you can re-load them into WMP (Windows Media Player). I would suggest before you load the discs that you change the settings in WMP to Mp3 and not the default of WMA this just makes it more universal ... although I do believe all coby players will play WMA. But with Mp3 codec in the WMP you can encode music at a higher kbs than WMA. That is the one thing that is wrong with apple itunes is that it can only be loaded onto Ipod players..... hope this helps

Need aac upgrade for thomson 6717 mp3 player not sure how to do this

I have had the same problems with this the only solution i have come up with is not to load any music files with the extension m4a on it you will end up getting the error message on it. stick to only putting music files with mp3 extention on the files and you should not have a problem.

Keeps telling me need aac firmware upgrade from rcaaudiovideo

I kept getting the same aac firmware message until I followed the following steps:
I downloaded the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and followed all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

start the program,
remove the battery,
hold the play button while plugging into usb,
release the play button when the the term "initializing" replaces "searching",
click the start button to replace the firmware.

If your computer recognizes your pearl, then backup your music first and check the "format data" box. I couldn't play aac files without formatting while upgrading the firmware.

Need aac upgrade firmware for rca mp3 th1611-a same problem....can't return them, can't fix them....my 2 children are VERY dissapointed as this was their ONLY gift from Santa this year. If anyone can...

There is no AAC firmware upgrade. These players are not compatible with AAC (iTunes) format. Most non-iPod players are incompatible, but there are a few exceptions here and there. The box on the player has to list AAC, and it can't have a proviso attached to the AAC, such as "non-protected" AAC. The cashiers at the places that sell them don't know jack about compatibility, usually.

Directory or file cannot be created

The file format is probably wrong. iTunes will not work with this player, for instance.

The format of the songs are wrong in one way or another. Each Mp3 player has a product spec sheet that lists which type of music file it is compatible with (Mp3, WMA, WAV, AAC, etc). You can't play iTunes songs, which are AAC format, on a player that only accepts Mp3 or WMA format.

The second formatting issue has to do with the DRM license on the songs you have downloaded. Right click a song that gave you an error, click on "Properties," and click on the "License," "Media Usage Rights," or "Digital Rights Mgmt" tab (wording varies by configuration). Not every song allows unlimited or even one-time transfer to a "portable device" (code word for "Mp3 player" in this case). Also, some songs are fixed-term - they expire after a while - sometimes in as little as 24 hours.

To get around this, convert every song to Mp3 format. Either that, or upgrade your music service subscription to the highest pkg they have available and never cancel (Napster's basic music svc, for instance, does not let you transfer to an Mp3 player, but their "Napster To Go" upgrade does allow transfer).

Reformat the player is all you can do - you will not be able to download an upgrade that will prevent this from happening in future, b/c the upgrade is not Mac compatible
