Hi. When system restart again and will go to advanced boot options. Select Disable automatic restart on system failure. If same thing will happen then you need to reinstall the Operating system again.

I istalled sp3 on my compaq amd 3400 64 bit now it just keeps rebooting. i tryed to unintall in safe mode but can not what must i do to get it running again thanks tom

I've run into that situation myself a couple of times when upgrading Windows for other people. If Windows won't run once you install SP3, you'll need to boot from a Windows XP installation CD (any version) and use the Windows Recovery Console to uninstall SP3. This page from Microsoft explains the process (method 4 on the list). It does work, although it's a tedious process. The Recovery Console is on all versions of XP CDs, so you can use any one.

Dimension 5100 and windows xp pro SP3 clean install

Well if you have it installed on the computer and cant get past the Windows logo. Put the SP3 disk in and do a repair. Make sure you hit -R and not the repair button after clicking continue. Well the directions for a repair will be on the screen. That is my thoughts on what you should do. If you have already done this, then I'm not sure where you should head to next. Hope this helps!!

just unplug all external devices except ur keyboard and mouse and restart,if u still have the same problem try with last known good configuration, then also with safemode with networking, if u still have problem first of all ,in safe mode only basic required drivers are loaded,it could be a driver issue open devicemanger to chk that as well

XP-Pro Crash

I don't know why but some systems which have XP (SP1 or SP2) simply can't take the upgrade to SP3. Your system appears to be one of them. For instance our family's computer had XP SP2 and upon upgrading to SP3 we received a fatal crash while XP was loading into normal operating mode.

I managed to resolve the issue by booting to safe mode and restoring the system to a date before I installed SP3. Sorry that the new SP doesn't work for you.

Constantly reboots itself

The Gateway GT5220 has an AMD Athlon 64 processor. It has been documented that Windows XP SP3 doesn't play well with some AMD CPUs. I'm pretty sure this is one of them. I would suggest attempting a system recovery using a restore point on a date BEFORE you installed SP3. If that doesn't work, you might consider recovery using the original Gateway Restore CD. It will likely wipe the system, but that might be the only choice.

I would NOT start with the total reload option. We have a couple others before you get there, so try the restore point and then let me know the results. We'll go from there...
