I just put new batteries in my honeywell thermostat.the thermostat is on but my furnace won't cut on. What should I do? I already tried reversing the batteries and scarping the corrosion off one of the metal pieces.

Depending on where you got the batteries from, you may want to replace those, even though they are new ones. Sometimes, certain batteries do not perform as well as others. If you bought the batters at a dollar store or bargain store, check the batteries first. Then second, look inside the battery compartment for loose parts, missing parts, or corrosion.

Honeywell ct3200 thermostat won't turn on

DON'T BUY A NEW ONE JUST YET! IF THE BATTERIES DIED & THERMOSTA LOST POWER, IT MAY HAVE LOST IT'S MEMORY. IT MOST LIKELY WENT BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS, & NEEDS TO BE RE-PROGRAMMED THROUGH THE INSTALLER SET-UP MENU. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE THE PAPERWORK FOR THE THERMOSTAT STILL & CAN POSSIBLY DO THE SET-UP YOURSELF. IT SHOULD HAVE STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS IN THE INSTALLATION GUIDE (NOT THE OWNERS MANUAL)

We have a fairly new furnace. I have the temp set at 65 the furnace only runs for 3 min at a time and comes on every 5 min. This sounds extreme to me?

It depends on the differential that you have programmed into the thermostat. In most of them you can set the temperature you want the thermostat to activate, and then you set the run differential such as three degrees below 65. In other words, the thermostat will activate at 62, and drive the temperature up to 65, cut off and wait for the temperature to drop to 62, where it cuts on again. see:

Check http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/honeywell/8000.html to see if you can find the manual if you have lost yours.

Batteries only last 2 maybe three days at a time.

There is nothing in the thermostat that should use anywhere near that much power. If there is a short the batteries should be getting very warm. (try a new set of batteries and feel them about an hour after you put them in) The most likely, cheapest, and easiest thing to do next is replace the thermostat. Otherwise you should be having problems with your furnace too. Be sure to turn off the electric to your furnace before replacing the thermostat!

Honeywell rth230b won't shut off heat

Sounds like a relay sticking. Possibly in the thermostat or possibly the furnace relay at the furnace. The next time it happens, unplug the thermostat from the wall. If the furnace still runs then it's the furnace relay.

Hope that helps...
