Check the mute button on the keypad.

You may go to ControlPanel - Sound.
Under Sounds tab, test if it responds.

If you have installed only the OS (Windows), then you are right, you also need to install the audio driver for the motherboard.
Go to motherbd manufacturer's website, put the model#, and download the audio driver.
(or just open Google, type ur laptop's model, then type audio driver).

If you got any recovery dvd alongwith this laptop, use it instead.
It should have everything in it : OS + all the drivers.

CANT TURN VOLUME UP ON LAPTOP

Hi...
Your problem may be due to some problems.
among these are problems in the audio driver or settings problem ataupau speaker on your computer's sound system has changed.
The first thing you need to ensure that the whole setting on your sound system is activated or the situation could possibly use.
if the same problem, do troubleshooting on your speakers using the ear phone to troubleshooting.
If the status remains the same, check your sound drivers or remove the existing driver and then re mamasangnya the updated driver from the manufacturer.
if all these measures are not successful, you need to reinstall the operating system (reformat) to identify whether the problem comes from the operating system or device. but if you do not want to take the decision to reformat the operating system, you can just change the sound device and all your problems should be done, unless there is a problem of your operating system from virus attacks, it is likely it also will disrupt the operation of a voice device.

sounds like it can be the hardware. try to uninstall and reinstall the latest audio driver then configure your speaker settings and volume settings. if this does not work, you may need to get the audio card or motherboard replaced.

I have problem with my dell gx260 audio driver

hello rockerz rock, get the correct audio driver, locate the CD that comes with your PC or motherboard, you can also download the driver on the internet, use search engines, or visit driverguide.com, if you cannot produce the sound, reformat your hard drive and reinstall your OS, make sure you back up your files first.after you have a fresh copy of your windows, install the driver.

other option:
buy a USB sound card, plug the device on any USB port, plug the speakers, and wham, instant sound.

I have no sound coming from my speakers, control panel says "no audio device" I know the speakers work, because I plugged them in to a cd player and they work fine

Check that the sound card(if it has one) is properly seated; may have to unplug from MB and plug back in. If it is an integrated MB,sound card is built into MB. Go to control panel; system, audio devices...if you find yellow ? or red x's, click troubleshoot; update driver; uninstall/reinstall from control panel

the sound is built into the motherboard for your dell so it is possible that something is wrong with the audio on your mainboard. One solution is to buy a PCI sound card from a computer store and plug it into an available slot. It will come with driver software. The cost of sound cards is very cheap. Less than $20
