Marantz 2270 receiver

What are the steps necessary to change the panel lights on my Marantz 2270 receiver? I've taken the face plate off and the plastic outer cover to the dial and meter display. Still see no way to get to the lights and change them!

Thanks,

John Davis

On some of the Marantz 22XX receivers you need to pull all the screws that hold the Front panel assembly to the main chassis. You'll need to remove the bottom chassis cover as well.
Once screws are out , tip the top of the front panel towards youand you can get access to the screws that hold the lamps assemblies

ALL these marantz units have plastic lamp shrouds that dry up and get VERY brittle. Dont be surprised if some of the plastic breaks

The lights are on the other side of the display. They have a plastic "wave guide" that deflects the light where needed. I hope this helps...accordianman

Changing the type of fuses in your receiver will not change your sound quality at all.

The pivot that balances the fm signal meter has jammed, it would have to be taken apart, the outer lens removed to attempt a repair, this is a very tricky operation, if you hit the receiver on the side nearest to the meter, the needle should move back and forth freely,"indicating the meter is good" but if it fails to move the mechanical part of the meter is faulty.

Read this procedure to possibly fix the remote:

They also sell replacement remotes but I'd also look on eBay as they are always cheaper. I've seen whole systems WITH the remote that are cheaper than a replacement remote alone.

My Marantz 2270 sounds great when first turned on, for about 20 minutes. Then it starts crackling very loudly on both channels. Is it expensive to get this fixed?

No, it's not expensive to get fixed. The circuit board has over heated through time and some of the solder connection have weakened. Inspect the circuit board for cold solder connection and reapply heat and solder.

It sounds like one or more of the channels is letting some DC current through or that the front end is breaking down. In either case, the parts required to fix it are generically available and cheap. Figure on $10-$20 in parts at any shop that deals with audio components. One thing you can do to help narrow this down is to see whether the behavior changes with heat. Do you get the same results upon startup? Does the problem get worse as the unit works (gets warm)?

Marantz 6200

Your unit's micro IC, is in need of a reset.Un-plug the unit and locate the semi large yellow capactor on the main board. (r-h side facing front) Now flip the unit over and look thru the vent holes in that same area and locate the two solder pins. Short them out with a thin metal object, like a straightened out paper clip or wire, and turn it over (just discharge the cap and remove your wire) this will default all settings and restore normal operation.
