WEll, they are pretty easily changed, and not very expensive....Meanwhile, get a Wireless keyboard (or wired) and hook up USB...and you are good to go. Traditional keyboard is better than a laptop board.
But you do need the keyboard to work so get one. BUT you may try disconnecting and reconecting the ribbon cable out of your keyboard, sometimes that works.

Some keys on keyboard stopped working-can't even type in complete password

Hi Kenneth,

The easiest solution to your problem, is to attach via usb, a normal PC Keyboard to your Laptop, however, if you're mobile with the Laptop, then I suggest you take the unit to a PC shop so the Tehies there can fix the problem, which is basically, lack of graphite between keys and PCB in your Laptop, not for you to play with.

I hope this answers your query.

Cheers,
Peter

Keyboard has completely stopped working could it be the cord or dust?

Hello, if your keyboard has stopped working it is not going to be dust. You can blow the dust out, but it will probably not help. If it is a PS/2 keyboard, check the pins and make sure none of them are bent. Most likely, there is something wrong with the keyboard or the cord. Try a different keyboard and see if that works.

Thanks for using FixYa!

The keyboard dosent work when starting up my

Without looking at the laptop it's difficult to diagnose the problem, but a temporary solution is to borrow/buy a cheap USB keyboard and mouse to get you up and running.

Input devices on vaio laptop stopped working

Dear Sue_s46,

Try and double chek all settings relate to keyboard and mouse by following below steps.

go to control panle- Mouse, double check it has not changed the settings the way normally works for left-right click and wheel.

regarding keyboard, go to control panle- regional and language settings. double check all settings are fine there.

if you dont get luck with anything, you might have Sony utility relate to keyboard/mouse. you can search for that program from start menu and within all programms.

let me know, if nothing works or any other issues.

also, let me know which operating system you have on Sony Laptop?

Many Thanks.

My D600 beeps when I first push the power button. It beeps about 2 times and then 4-5 times. It then goe ahead and comes up Thanks

sounds like a key is stuck on a keyboard. Rub your fingers all over the keyboard to make sure none of the keys are sticking. Then go ahead and turn on the laptop and see if the beeps stop. If that doesn't work, then disconnect the keyboard completely and turn on the laptop and see if the beeps stop and the laptop turns on.

If those two things don't work, unseat the memory and reseat it back into the slots one at a time and turn on the laptop after each reseat.

The beeps should go away and if they don't then you know the motherboard is starting to go bad.

Keyboard on hp dv7-1130us stopped working

This sounds alot like a virus i once had!
try a system restore to the point before these problems occured. if that doesnt work run a full virus scan. If that doesnt fix the problem you may have to wipe the hard drive completly.

Keyboard doesnt work....

May be something spilled on keyboard or maybe loose cable under keyboard.
Some keyboards can be easily removed either with catches at front below space bar or sometimes screw on underside releases the keyboard. Others have a sliding plastic bar above keyboard which then removes to release keyboard.

Find keyboard ribbon cable and check it is in socket OK on mainboard. If not, gently prise up each end of the socket which will release the ribbon cable - push ribbon cable down into socket - press down socket edges to trap cable into socket again.

Laptop Keyboard Not Functioning

Try to unplug and plug back in the keyboard connector ribbon onto the motherboard. Consult the laptop manual if that voids your warranty or not before trying, also look at the documentation on how to dissemble your laptop, it shouldn't be too hard. here's the instructions on how to do it

you might need some tools, but good luck and be careful
