Question about JVC AV-27D501 TV

1 Answer

I have a JVC AV-27D501 TV, I'm trying to connect a DVD player to the TV but not able to get the Video or Audio. My DVD player has Video Out (Yellow) and Audio out (white & red). Connected the AV cables to the front panel of TV and changed the INPUT on TV to Video 1, Video 2 and Video 3, but no luck. On selecting Video 3 I could hear some sound just for a moment (comes & goes). I even tried all the jacks on the back side but nothing worked. Pls suggest a solution

I'm assuming the cable was plugged correctly - the colors matched. VIDEO 3 is for the front connectors so it should have worked . Since it hasn't then one of the three parts in this setup (tv, player, cable) is defective. To find out which you must do some simple tests:
1. replace the cable and try again.
2. take your player and connect it to a surely functional tv - if it doesn't work in there then it's defective.
3. get another player that is surely functional and connect it to your tv - if it doesn't work then the AV switching IC from your tv (soldered on the mainboard) is defective and it will have to be replaced. Call a repairman, there is nothing more you can do.

On my Yamaha AV receiver, DVD video (usually a yellow connector) passes through to a video output which then connects to the video input of the TV.

HI,
Before connecting the the DVD to your TV First of all you have to the audio out put of your for the do the following using the setup menu.

Press SETUP button of of the DVD player to show "setup" menu. Select the audio setup the select the digital out then change to OFF from SPIDF/RAW.

Here i have added a picture which shows how to hookup the dvd player to a TV. Its for the same model that you have .
to make the connection you need two codes
1. 3.5mm stereo to two RCA (for audio)
2. 3.5mm mono to single RCA(for video)
connect the first cord to inoptical/audio and second one to video output of the dvd player.
connect the cable which comes from the video out out of dvd to the video input (yellow) of your TV. then connect the cable which comes from the inoptical/audio of the dvd player to the audio input of the TV (red and white ).

You have to select the input of your TV by pressing the AV/ source selection on the remote of the TV. check where you made the connection on the tv AV 1 or AV 2. then select the corresponding input. hope you will get it worked.

Also Added the image of the cable that you need to make the connections.

I cannot figure out which RCA jack output do you plug the jacks into to hook up a dvd player?

AV input wire will have three connections. Red, Yellow andWhite. Out of which, Yellow one should be connected to Video Out of the DVD player, and the other two, Read and White; to be connected to the audio out left, and audio out right of the DVD player. The other ends of this wire should be connected to Video In, and Audio In socmets of the TV. Keep trace with the colour of the socket and connect it. Select the Input of the tV to AV. Switch On both the devices. If the connection is correct, you will see the logo of the DVD player on the tv screen.

Connecting DVD player to Viewsonic TV

You will use component video cables.  They come in threes and all they require you to do is connect the DVD output with the TV input and match the cable colors on both ends.  They will be red, white, and yellow.  The yellow is the video, and red and white are left and right audio.  If your TV is too old to have stereo audio, only one (red or white) audio cable needs to be connected.  It doesn't matter which.  The yellow cable always needs to be connected.

Another option, but a slightly less common one, is to use a single AV cable to connect the two.  The reason this is less common is because most newer TV's do not have AV input, and newer DVD players do not have AV output.  If it does, however, this is the most simple, and you probably wish to take advantage of it, so you have a connection available when you purchase a newer unit which does not have AV.
