Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

Not loading? When I turn on my computer, It shows the big E, with the F10 and F2 options, it freezes on that without any use of the keyboard, and you can't turn it off unless you completely turn the computer off. I couldn't find exact product, but its the desktop, and main computer.

Your OS is messed up.
You will have to reinstall your OS and drivers.
If you have the CD's that came with your system you should have no problem, just follow on screen instructions, if not, you will have to install the OS and get the driver for your network card so you can go online and download the rest of the drivers for your e-machine, sound, video, usb and chipset drivers.
Good Luck.

Hi,
You forgot to tell us the Motherboard type.
Click either F2 or Delete( depends on the type of board ), after you started the comp and shows the memory and HD capacity on the monitor.
Bios setting will then pop up, then go to maximum default settings....save and exit.... it will restart by itself.

Hope that helps!

Unable to boot from a cd

First check to see if the CD is bootable. Stick it in another computer and see if it boots, if it doesn't then the CD may not be bootable and you will have to get/create another one. If it does, then you will need to move on the checking the bios.
Check the bios to make sure it is setup to boot first from a CD, then Hard Drive. When to computer boots up, you should be able to press F10 or F2, depending on the type of Bios you have. Once you get in it, on the left will be a tree which you will need to use the arrows on your keyboard to navigate.
Again, because I don't know the type of bios you have, within the first couple of options will be the boot sequence. Make sure it is set for CD first, then Hard Drive.

My cd rom drive is missing and i need to know how to get into the bios to check if its showing there, how do i do that?

Turn the computer off.
Turn the computer on.
As soon as possible, press either F2 or DEL or F10 or ENTER.

Or, just hold any key down, until you get "keyboard error, press <blah> to enter BIOS SETUP".

How do I get get into the bios of my to reset it to defaults ? I have windows xp!

Reboot your computer and hit f2 to enter into setup. This will take you into the BIOS configurations. Arrow over and look for the option that says load setup defaults and hit enter. Then hit f10 on your keyboard to exit saving changes. This will reboot your computer and your defaults will then be loaded.

Try continually pressing the F8 key as it starts. You may be able to start it in 'safe mode'.

You haven't got a usb flash drive in one of the usb ports, have you? That can sometimes cause the problem you describe.

Windows wont start. dont know how it happened.

Does F2 mean to enter setup or does F12 mean to enter setup, Press the particular key on the keyboard to enter setup and Go to Exit using your up-down keys on the keyboard (it varies with different motherboards) and go to Load Optimized Default then Yes and press F10 - Yes and it will automatically restart the system, b2.jpg if both are not displaying anything to do, restart the system and press Delete button and follow the same instructions as mentioned above. (If the BIOS screen is similar as displayed above, then just highlight the Load Optimized Default using your Up and Down Keys on the keyboard {Y for yes, Enter for OK}).. It's will boot from the hard disk as default not from the CD-rom..Good luck...

My computer is having difficulties turning on

I could be several problems, I would suggest unplugging everything except the keyboard. If you have another keyboard you can try that as well. If that doesn't work and you fell comfortable opening up the computer, I would try to remove a stick of RAM, and while you have the computer open, look to see if any of the capacitors are blown.

Hello,
I'm sorry to say this but your hard drive may be faulty and need a replacement. Your files might still be retrievable but you will need to take it to a repair center to get it retrieved or plug it as an external hard drive and try to retrieve data yourself. But nevertheless, it seems like your hard drive gave in and will need to be replaced with a new one..

Thanks,
Lolita
