Question about Garden

Open Question

The plastic fuel lines on my whipper snipper disintegrated. I have replaced them but does not appear to be getting fuel into the carby. If I put fuel direct into carby it will start but not keep running. I can see the fuel in the fuel lines.

Did you relace the primer bulb too? Did you clean the fuel filter inside the tank and the flaky, broken, brittle pieces of old fuel line found commonly there? It's a start.

SOURCE: my fs 45 whipper snipper is starting but running

I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crackor split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure

SOURCE: How to fit whipper snipper line

Hold the snipper upside down so the petrol leaks onto the kitchen floor. Take 6 metres of line and untangle it eventually. Stick it through the two holes and wind the cord in opposite directions so it jams together and tangles. Stick the unit head back together with two feet of line sticking out each side. Start the trimmer and jump backwards as the line rips itself to pieces. Use it on weeds until line breaks within 20 seconds. Slam the end of the trimmer into the concrete and shout **** fuckey **** ****. Then tear off the head cover and start again. I have done this for years and it never fails. Hope this helps.

Starts then dies - plastic carb

Sometimes, there is a waxy substance in the fuel tank and fuel lines that is put there by the manufacturer to prevent deterioration during storage. Machines may sit in a store for months / years before getting sold. I would get some fuel cleaner and flush the tank and fuel lines , then put some fresh fuel in the tank. I had to do this with a brand new whipper snipper. Had the same problem.

I have replaced my ryobi whipper snipper fuel lines and now it won't stay running. What have I done wrong?

I have had exactly the same experience, and then also replaced the primer bulb, messed around with the carby mixtures, but so far it will not run for more than about 3 - 5 seconds! I have yet to resolve this problem.

My 2 stroke whipper snipper won't start

As with all 2 stroke engines,
1. Pump the fuel plug. 3 -5 times.
2. Turn the stop botton onto start.
3. Choke onto hot.
4. Pull the cord . Most important... dont touch the throttle trigger when pulling the cord. Wait until until it starts up.
If you do. (like it says in the instructions, your flooding the engine)

Works every time for me on everyone's whipper snippers.

Hi, can you tell me where each fuel line goes on an older Triton whipper snipper, (both ports on carby are at the same level, one 'big' one 'small' ).thanks....

generally the smaller line is the 'feed' line. It would have the fuel filter attatched to the end in the tank and go directly from tank to carb. The larger line would be the return line and rout from the carb to the primer bulb then to the tank.
If everything is working correctly you would see the fuel be drawn from the tank into the carb then leave the carb into the primer bulb and return to the tank.
