Make sure that you have unscrewed at the bottom side of the laptop. One of those screws holds the DVD drive in place. When you are sure all these screws are removed, open the DVD drive's tray using a straightened paper clip inserted in the hole on the front panel of the DVD drive. Next, hold the DVD drive's tray & pull it out of its slot.

My toshiba laptops dvd tray will not open what do i do?

Bend a paper clip straight to use on the emergency eject hole if the DVD player fails to open on the laptop.
Push the tip of the clip into the hole on the DVD drive cover or to one side, usually on the right. The drive will pop out about halfway.

How to reomve a faulty CD/DVD drive from the Acer Aspire 5510 to enable replacement.

Hello
With a number of software manufacturers using DVDs to distribute their software releases, having a Acer Aspire 5510 DVD-ROM Drive is not only convenient but is practically essential to keep up with software releases. Unfortunately, if your laptop doesn't have a DVD drive, installing one isn't quite as simple as it would be if you were installing the drive into a desktop computer. This doesn't mean that installing a laptop DVD drive is difficult, provided you purchase one that is compatible with your laptop. 1. Check to ensure compatibility between your laptop and the Acer Aspire 5510 CD-RW Drive you purchase. The best ways to do this are to purchase your DVD drive directly from your laptop manufacturer, look for compatibility information on the drive's packaging or ask a knowledgeable sales associate. If buying online, make sure to read all of the drive's profile to check for compatibility information. 2. Remove the Acer Aspire 5510 DVD-ROM CD-RW Combo Drive that your laptop currently has. Flip the laptop over, setting it on a sturdy surface with the side that the existing drive is on facing you. Depending on how the laptop is designed, you should find 1-to-3 screws holding the drive in place; these screws may be on the bottom of the laptop or on the side next to the drive. Unscrew the screws and set them aside for later use. 3. Flip the laptop back over. Carefully remove the old drive, pulling gently yet firmly if you encounter resistance/ This will be the drive unplugging from the laptop's drive interface, so a small amount of resistance is not unusual. Once the drive is free of the laptop, set it aside. 4. Slide the new Acer Aspire 5510 Combo Drive into the empty drive port. Make sure that you press it all the way in so that the drive will plug in to the drive interface. Once the drive is in completely, replace the screws to secure the drive. 5. Boot up your laptop. Your operating system will detect new hardware and will load temporary drivers for the DVD drive; insert the driver disc that came with the drive to install the manufacturer's drivers in order to get optimal use out of your new Acer Aspire 5510 DVD-ROM CD-RW Combo Drive.
Hope this helps, if so do rate the solution Good Luck

How do i remove a disk drive from a toshiba satellite L25-s1195 laptop

If you are talking about the CD/dvd drive you have to take it apart which WILL void your warrenty. Usually one of the screws underneath also holds it in place otherwise it is located under keyboard. I do not recommend taking a laptop apart unless you know what you are doing. if you damage one of the many this ribbon cables it will not work when you put it back together. If you are talking about the hard disk then there is an access pannel underneath that has a picture of what looks like cd's stacked on top of eachother representing the platters that are inside a hard drive.

My labtop just ate my dvd but i put another disc and it still works? how can i get the previous disc out?

The best thing to do would be to take the dvd drive out of the laptop completely. There usually is a screw on the bottom of the laptop holding in the drive.

Get the drive out and then with the end of a paper clip, put it in the hole in the front of the dvd drive so the door opens.

After you open up the door to the drive then make sure the dvd drive is upside down and shake it so any pieces from the disc that got ate up will come out onto the ground. If nothing comes out then you would need to take apart the drive by taking out the screws and then removing the pieces manually and then putting the screws back into the dvd drive.

I actually have an HP Pavillion zd8000 where I need to install a new DVD "D" Drive. I have removed all of the screws, including the ones under the battery, by the Hard Drive, the back base of the monitor...

Generally, the optical drive can be removed without taking the casing apart, just one screw holds it in under the laptop. If yours is one of those that does need to come apart, you will need to make sure that the two screwsat the rear of the laptop are undone. When you take the bexel off where the power button is, there will be two more screws holding the hinge in, they need to come out too. Then you need to remove the LCD screen before the rest of the case will come apart.

Removing DVD-drive on Travelmate 230

Hi,
Eject the tray and turn the laptop off, close the lid and turn the laptop over.
take note of the positioning of the DVD and look for one screw that will be holding the DVD rom in place, once you have located the screw and removed it the DVD will just slide out of it's compartment and you will be ready to replace it.

Good luck.

Power aerial stuck halfway

yor motor can be running fine, but the gear inside the unit is most likley plastic and may be broken. if your handy with broken things, you could tear it apart and see if the gear is broken, but I would go online and see if parts are availible. You can also get one from the junkyard or off ebay.

My xbox keeps on reading open tray when i put a disc can any one help me

Mine had the same problem. On mine the spindle wasn't turning the game. It kept trying to then quit and said "Open Tray". The warranty was out so I took it apart opened the dvd drive and took apart the spindle. The grease in the spindle was black, I guess from all the heat. Cleaned it out and put some high temperature grease on spindle shaft and in the hole. It now spins with ease. There are videos on youtube on how to take apart the xbox and to take apart the dvd drive and spindle. Just pay close attention at how tight the screws the hold the spindle down are.I hope this helps.

Cd insertion

I have two 8182s that both do this. Got fed up and took them apart. Both of them had a broken hinge pin in the back of the cd/dvd drive. There is a fairly strong spring that clamps the disk once it get inserted and I believe the tension on the spring is causing the hinge pin to break out of the plastic it is mounted in.
I epoxied mine and put a lighter spring in and so far it is holding up. Good luck if you are not VERY tech oriented. This isn't designed to come apart easily. Wish I could bring everyone some better news but I think it is a design flaw of the units.
