  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 06, 2010

I disconnected the power for an hour but the child lock lite is still flashing, Do you have the diagonistic for the Kitchen Aid KUDC25CH None of the sequences you sent match my dishwasher

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 06, 2010

    Hey,
That vis the right manual, sometimes I have to leave the power off for 24 hoursw to clear the child lock, I tried holding the Button you recommended , it didn't effect the child lock, once it clears I will try to figure out what opperation it is messing up at,. At this time when it quit the botton of the dishwasher is full of water, it's level is just below the heater element. I do appreciate your help:)

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 07, 2010

    Hey,
Child lock light was off this morning, I started the dish washer and watched at what cycle it quit per your advise. It stopped at the 2nd light in the rinse cycle, there are 3 small red lights it the first light was lite for quite a while so ii am asuming it was getting ready to light the 2nd red light.
No hurry on your resopnds I know today is Sunday.
    Later

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 09, 2010

Actual i was running a short cycle,, energy saver was also on , the second red light on the rinse cycle is where it quit, as far as thw water temp it was warm , that might of been because the bottom was full of water when i started it, I will remove the water tonight and rerun the cycle tomorrow, that way i will know if the water is getting real hot.
I will email you tomorrow of what i found out.
    thanks for your patience

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 12, 2010

I dishwasher set for a couple of days the child lock was not blinking as soon as I closed the dishwasher it pumped what little water was around the pump, you could hear the water passing thru the drain, after it emptied it quit and the red child lock light went to flashing again.

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 12, 2010

    Hey,
Not a problem by tomorrow evening the child lock locl light will quit blinking then maybe It will start from a fresh cycle so I can see if the water heats .
    Later

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 13, 2010

got up this morning child lock light was off, I selected rinse only and strat button and child lock and cancel light started blinlking, usually it will run when when i select a normal cycle, but i wll have to wait a day for it to reset it self.

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 13, 2010

2nd try child lock reset in a hour, I closed the door and the cancel light was still blinking , while blinking the water pump started running for 30 n40 seconds then cancel light went out and the child lock light staryted flashing again

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 14, 2010

I see the super scrub , but I can't find the no heat button unless you mean energy saver.
I did try to hold the energy saver button to reset the child lock but still no respond, i will have to wait for the child lock to go out before I can try thy the button sequence you have suggested.
I would think we are getting closer to finding something, I understand if you want to just throw in the towel. I hate to pay a service guy if its something like the control panel plus his service call plus gas surcharge, might be cheaper inthe long run to purchace something newer

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 15, 2010

I pushed the superscrub and then the enegery saver nothing happened so it pushed the to buttons again and the child lock light started flashing. What do you think??

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 17, 2010

The child lock will not clear out anymore, so tonight I will tear into the door panel and look it over. Iwill touch base with you later,

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 21, 2010

    Hey,
I finally got around to disassembling, everything was dry , i did disconnect all the wires from the control board and let it set over night, I reassembled and the child lock is still blinking, what componets will i hav to replace and is there any place special you order parts from. Thank you so much for all the help

  • Dennis Bernelis Nov 23, 2010

Well it took a while, thank you for your patience, we determined it was the control board, I have one on order, thanks for the help.

  • Dennis Bernelis Dec 01, 2010

I installed a new control board, the dishwasher went thru all the cycles as far as I know but the large RINSE button is blinking , do you have any codes that tell what that is?

  • Dennis Bernelis Dec 02, 2010

I don't see any coment, do I have to start a new session??

If the dishwasher is not completing its cycle then you should expect the dishes will be wet.

Is it doing the same thing everytime you start the wash? I am assuming you have already turned the mains off and back on a few times.

It depends at which point the dishwasher is giving up. Is there water inside when it stops? Is it hot or cold and has the detergent door opened?

I am still trying to find the diagram of the control panel for your dishwasher. If any of this look familiar then try the reset sequence....

Pressing the following option keys in the sequence shown will either

start the Diagnostics Cycle:

HI TEMP WASH, AIR DRY, HI TEMP WASH, AIR DRY

or

POWER SCOUR, AIR DRY, POWER SCOUR, AIR DRY

(HI TEMP WASH = HIGH TEMP WASH = WATER HEAT)

(POWER SCOUR = SUPER SCRUB)
(AIR DRY = ENERGY SAVER DRY = NO HEAT DRY)

All lights should light up and then press the On button to see if all lights turn off.
(Don't worry if there is no change as it may not be the correct buttons on your model).

If the water is not hot then it is possible the heater is faulty. See this diagram.

Please post a comment to confirm what you see.

PLease confirm if your dishwasher is the same as the one in this user manual

I had given you a few optional buttons to try for diagnostics. - power scour --> super scrub and air dry --> energy saver dry

Both these buttons are on the panel of KUDC25CH model.

Have you tried holding the Energy Saver Dry button for 5-6 secs? This button is linked to the child-lock function.

  • Sam Nov 06, 2010

If it takes 20 or so hours for child lock to clear by itself then there could be a moisture problem in the panel. The wait could be drying it up.

The water could be leaking into the panel and causing the problem.

The panel assembly can be viewed here.

If there is water inside the dishwasher then empty it with a small container and wait until the child lock light disappears. Operate on the rinse cycle and see how far it goes. Post me a comment then.

  • Sam Nov 08, 2010

was the water warm/ hot at the time it quit. do you remember which wash cycle you ran it on.

Next time try with the short cycle and see how far it goes.

  • Sam Nov 09, 2010

This is interesting. Thanks for the additional information. "Short wash" would mean the wash cycle is done on normal inlet water temperature but the 2nd rinse is at 60deg C water temperature. If this is where it is failing then I am going by my first conclusion that the heater is faulty or the inlet water temperature is too low. The unit expects intel water temperature to be around 49deg C.

Try the "Rinse Only " program with no detergent and see how far it goes. This does not heat the water.

If that goes ok then try the "Anti Bacteria" cycle. This should start heating the water immediately on start.

don't bother about the "energy saver dry" as it just prolongs the cycle because it is trying to air dry the dishes and not use steam.

    See how you go.

  • Sam Nov 12, 2010

I am on the road right now. Will get back later in about 6 hours.

  • Sam Nov 12, 2010

As mentioned before, if the cycle light goes away then try Rinse Only cycle as we don't want the heater to start....

  • Sam Nov 13, 2010

It is appearing to me the control card on your dishwasher has a problem. It could be a simple component failure in one of the input sensor circuits but this will require replacement of the whole card.

I don't think we got around to running the diagnostics to check if the controller is responding.

Before going to anything else, next time the child lock light goes off try the diagnostics in one of my earlier posts.

Press this sequence within 8-10 secs and see if all lights light up and turn off when you press cancel or open door.

WATER HEAT / NO HEAT DRY/ WATER HEAT/ NO HEAT DRY

The control card is available from here.

  • Sam Nov 13, 2010

Sorry that diagnostic sequence should be

SUPER SCRUB/ NO HEAT DRY/ SUPER SCRUB/ NO HEAT DRY

  • Sam Nov 14, 2010

Yes it should Energy Saver Dry. I must have confused with some other model.

It is upto you to decide if you want to replace the parts on this one or get a new one.

For $500-600 you can pick up something similar in function to what you have.

Replacing the control card should not require a technician. There are usually connector that come off and get plugged in. Make sure the mains power is turned off and you take photos at each step.

  • Sam Nov 15, 2010

By the way the 2 keys have to be pressed alternatively in quick succession within 8-10 secs.

    srub/ dry / scrub/ dry.

I am assuming this is what you did.

At this stage we have confirmed that no matter which cycle use, it is happening and based on some of the stuff I have been reading on the internet, this problem has been widely reported. The solution has been linked to the keypad or the controller card. The cost is close to $350-400 if both have a fault.

In any case you will have to open the panel to get some idea of any moisture or stuck key. The diagram I sent before might be handy in finding out where the panel and the controller card are. Just take the connectors out, clean the edges with a clean cloth, run a hair dryer to take any moisture away, and put back in and see if anything has changed. It could be a simple component playing up on the card or the keypad but you have to replace the lot. That is the solution.

  • Sam Nov 21, 2010

The buttons for this model are all part of the touch pad panel and unfortunately you have to get the whole assembly. It is expensive - so unsure if it is worth spending so much on the dishwasher which might already be over 10 years old.

The part is item 1 on the diagrams I had sent before.See this. You will have to match the colour. Click on the item listed in the table.

    Good luck.

  • Sam Dec 02, 2010

Please confirm if you installed a new control board only or the whole control panel? Is it please possible to provide the part number of what you had.

Regarding the rinse button light flashing, I do not have any document available as to what it means.

WOndering if you can continue to operate the dishwasher whilst it is still flashing or is everything locked.

How about turning the power to the dishwasher off and back on.

  • Sam Dec 02, 2010

I am repeating the comment I posted earlier.

'low rinse' stuck on with full rinse aid, can't start wash cycle

Actually, if you look closely at that Low Rinse button or emblem, you will see a little lock symbol ABOVE the words "Low Rinse", and I'll bet THAT light is the one that is on. Basically, you have the control lock (or child-lock) turned on. To turn it off, you have to press and hold the SANITIZE button for 3 to 5 seconds until that light goes off. Now your dishwasher will work!

How do I stop Lights flashing

You may have the child-lock or control-lock function activated. Or if you have the short-cycle activated, you will not be able to activate the high-temp or sani-wash functions, because the dishwasher will not have time to heat the water to the required temperature.

Child Lock on or Flashing Energy Saver Dry

I suspect that the cycle "button" on the control panel is intermittent.  Try using a different cycle - If you always use "short wash", try the "normal" cycle.
This worked for me.  It will be too expensive to repair, so I am dishwasher shopping.
