SOURCE: washer will not drain, seems to be plugged

Try using a wet/dry shop vac and see if you can pull water through the drain hose in the back. If you can, duct tape the vacuum nozzle to the drain hose to make a good seal. With the vacuum on, watch the drain hose under the tub. If it collapses, you have a clog somewhere. It may be easier to remove the hoses from the pump, first to see if there is anything stuck in the impeller. It doesn't take much to restrict water flow. If you need to remove the hose from the bottom of the tub, try to get as much water out using the method I mentioned. It may be slow, but as long as it can pull water, try to drain. This will save you from a big mess later. If there is a clog in the hose, all that water will gush out with the hose disconnected. You may want to have a few towels handy. some models there is a plastic ball valve in the drain hose connected under the tub. This needs to stay there, but may also be jammed with crud. Sand and dirt is notorious for clogging at this point in the drain system. This hose should come off with a simple clamp tightened with a screw. If you go through all the effort and find the lines clear, you may have a failed drain pump.

SOURCE: How to remove the washer cycle selection/start-stop knob on a Whilpool Heavy Duty Thin Twin stacked washer dryer

I believe the selector knob on a Whirpool just has to be turned counter-clockwise with the selector pushed in. It will spin off the shaft and then the outer indicator dial will pull off. The shaft also has a keyed slot that will only allow the dial to be removed and installed one way, so there should be no question as to how it goes back on.

Was there a reason as to why you are removing the washer selector knob? If this is a simple matter of replacing a broken water temperature selector, you shouldn't have to remove any of the control knobs to gain access to the selector. The entire front panel comes off by removing the screws holding it in place. That way you can access the broken selector from behind the front panel much easier. Just remove the panel right above the washer top (under the dryer) and it should expose the front panel mounting screws. Remove these screws and the front panel comes off. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before you begin. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: fabric softener dispenser

If you cannot get the dispenser cap opened, submerge and soak it in some hot water. Liquid fabric softener is a type of wax that, over a period of time, will harden and clog the dispenser (as you well know by now). In many cases you do not have to take it apart if you just use the hot water method. You may have to rinse and repeat several times. Try this and let me know if you have any luck. If you require further assistance, please post back with your complete model number, so I can see what type of dispenser cap we are talking about. I hope this helps you.

SOURCE: Water pooling up in bottom of dishwasher

is there any way to run the cycle from the beginning and listen to hear if the machine is draining at all when the cycle starts do you hear the water spraying on the inside ? if not then you have several different possibilities....clogged drain line, pump impeller broken(sounds like running but no action), water just flowing back to washer the last one's an easy fix just loop the excess drain hose up like a reverse "p" trap on a kitchen sink drain this keeps the water from flowing back to the machine

remove the toe kick panel at the bottom of your washer and inside you will find the drain pump. once you locate the pump, pull washer from wall so you can tilt it back against the wall. Then remove the cap in the front of the drain pump and clean, if it is clean , set washer back down and remove the wires from pump motor. set your multimeter to VAC and plug into wires. set the washer to drain&spin and start. if you have 120 volts replace the drain pump. if you have no voltage replace main control. go to this guidance and location of parts.

this is quite the messy job so be prepared for some water to leak out if this is your first time remove the cover of the machine look down the bottom of the front of the machine there willbe a motor infront of the motor there is a white, or grey plastic piece with two hoses on it. this is the washer pump remove the two clips onthe top and the bottom o the pump then ull notice the two hoses when u remove the clamps that are on each of these water will come out of the hoses it might be better to empty the inside of the machine with a shop vac first try using a small bowl under each of the hoses while having the shop vac trned on as u remove the hose clamp after you remove each hose check to see if there is any debirs in the line finally inspect the inside of the pump to make sure no debirs is taped inside if the inside f th pump is not moving you willhae to buy a new one you can order one of these and have it directly mailed to you from marcone hope this helps

Dishwasher will not drain

If you can close the door, turn the control to drain and, can hear the motor running; you have a clog under the pump screen in the back of the Dish Washer preventing the pump impeller from turning
if you hear nothing: reset the house circuit breaker.
to fix: while the DW is on turn off the DW house circuit breaker then remove the pump screen and, remove the broken glass etc. from the pump then: repower and, test.

There is all water still left in the bottom and there are no lights on the front panel. have pushed the button but nothing happens

Open the the door look at bottom where the water is accumulating you may need to remove the dishes and the bottom trey, In the very most lower corner of the inside of the dishwasher you will find a drain it will not look like the drain in you sink but more like a 2 1/2 inch cylinder with a mesh like screen, this is the drain screen and it will get clogged from time to time, Depending on the make and model of your dishwasher will determine how this drain cover is removed, The most common removal is to use a Philips head screw drive and remove retainer screw, Now you will need to put your hands in the muck and feel down inside the hole where the gross stuff has plugged up the drain and remove most of it the best you can, After you finish removing the muck you will need to use that Philip head srew driver and remove the screws that secure the kick plate, this is the most lower portion of the dish washer in the front, Now you will be able to access the pump drive it is the plastic or aluminum with 2 to 3 hoses connected to its body. At the base of the pump you should be able to turn the pump manualy, this will help the motor start turning the pump by itself. be sure to put the drain screen back on and secure it with the retaining screw. Reinstall the kick-plate, To prevent this from happening again get the kids to remove the muck from the drain and they will never put a plate full of food in the dishwasher again. Good luck and happy fishing.

Water in bottom of dish washer

you probably have something stopping the drain pump operating (like a tooth-pick or piece of plastic that won't break down in water) its a take it to pieces job i'm afraid but if you are fairly mechanically adept you can do it yourself. the drain pump is quite small and nearby to the drain outlet- you need to remove the case and release the drain from inside the unit- remove the pump itself and you'll prbably find somthing stuck in it- remove and re-assemble. In the meantime DO NOT use the dishwasher as you will 'burn out' the motor as the pump rotors are jammed.
Hope this helps

Whirlpool washer won't spin even though motor is running

Sounds like the the motor belt is worn or off. Try a new belt, or check the drain pump filter for clogs.
If you've got a handy friend, it's easy to check these... remove the back of the washer (about 12 srews) and check for black dust inside, or a belt hanging or lying on the bottom.
To check the drain pump filer screen, look for the drain hose, follow it into the back of your washer and down to a plastic bow looking unit. There should be a round cover with a kind of handle on it. remove the cover, (water may run out... have a few towels handy) clean off lint etc. and put back together. Try again...
