Question about GE (PSS26MSRSS) Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Shouldn't the doors stay open wherever you put them instead of banging into you (or slamming back against the wall) when you're trying to get items out? I have tried leveling the unit according to the manual but can't get the doors to stop swinging.

I haven't tried it yet but at least it is something to work on. However, I have a feeling that I won't be able to make the adjustments suggested. Thanks.

They are supposed to close on their on because of the door closing cam on the bottom hinge. If it closes faster then you think it should you can check the operation of the door cam. The door should rise about 1/4 when you open it. There is a door stop at the bottom of each door you might can un bolt and reposition to keep it off the wall. The cam is usually black plastic and fits on the hinge pin.

My KitchenAid Dishwasher door won't stay closed. It keeps popping open after a few seconds.

I experienced the same problem after my tension cables broke. The door fell open with such force that it bent the hinges a little. If you've replaced the tension strings (which you should do every 5-8 years) then you don't have to replace the latch. I did and it didn't solve the problem.
Here's the solution:
Put a towel at the bottom of each side of the door by the hinge.
Push the door closed a couple of times to bend back the hinges.
Remove the towels and you're back in action.
Good luck

I put some washing in my samsung J845 front loader the door will not lock before the washing can be done. my husband brought a new door latch due to the other one been burnt out and he put it back on the...

Just bang the door again until the error goes away. The door is not lined up and won't latch properly. At least that is what ours does. I usually slam the door on my machine.

1997 Isuzu Rodeo, 4.2L All windows stopped working!!!

all windows controlled from the drivers door...if you have someone in the family with BIG fists have them stand beside the drivers door panel and putting the **** against the door, SLAM their fist into the door panel right under the switches. Take a can of WD-40 and spray ALOT directly around the switches in the door using the little red hose WD40 gives you. GM's are known for carbon-tracking their door up over the years...sometime banging the door knocks the buildup loose allowing the circuit to work.

Borrowed friend's truck - opened the tailgate - now it won't close. seems like the latches are doing nothing, nothing moves or catches when trying to slam/close it shut. Help?

On the truck body there is bolt potruding. On the tailgate, there is a hook that when pushed against the bolt, will shift to grab the bolt and hold the gate closed. This hook can shift just enough to bang against the  bolt instead of hooking it. Use your finger or a screwdriver to push the hook back (or down). You should be good to go. sslgrits

Door is slamming open...

Without seeing it.Check to see if the unit is level. If it is, You may want to remove everything on the door and see if it still happens. If the problem still exits, you may be able to adjust the door.

No Power Whirlpool MH7140XF

does it not light up at all? A microwave has a fuse on it. Probably accessible from the back panel. if not you would need to disassemble it. Most likely cause of this is slamming the door broke one of the safety switches the door has so the microwave knows when the door is open. And it shorted against something when it broke. It might have simply blew the fuse but then again you might have fried it.
