I done everything you said. took the whoe thing apart and all the hoses where clear. it sounds like it's coming from the main motor. Sounds like it's running way to many rpms. Very loud

    Hi,
I took the whole thing apart again. Took all hoses off, crystal clear. Could not find nothing. i took the motor out of housing and blew it out again. I put the motor back in housing and hook nothing to it just to see what would happen. It made the same noise. Sounded like a wood router. it was really loud. I had a good friend come over and and even look at all hoses and every where that air travels through. we both could,nt find anything. I turn the motor back on to let him here it and when i did it started to make a funny sound. After about 10 sec. the motor rpms started to slow way down and making a real bad smell.

Hi,
Usually when a vacuum is making the loud noise it is because of a stoppage somewhere in the vacuum.
To find the blockage some detective work will be needed.
First off take off the hose at the closest point to where in enters the cannister or bag. This will tell you if the hose or the floor unit is plugged up. If the noise changes and goes away then you have a blockage in the hoses or floor unit and need to pull everything apart and clean it out.
To clean out the hose you will need a stick like a broom handle to push completely through the hose.
The floor unit may need to be taken apart to find the blockage. Often there are few screws in the top or bottom that hold it together.

If removing the hose from the unit does not work then you will need to use your manual to find and clean all filters and check all of the passageways in the vacuum it's self...

By checking all of these things you should be back vacuuming again...

Here is a tip that I wrote about my Bissel but I bet you have the same problem and the hose is clogged...

    Hi,
That is exactly the sound that you get when something is clogged....believe it or not the rpm's do actually go up because the motor cannot get air so it actually is not working at all so the rpm's go up.....
I have a Bissell similar to yours but not the exact model... I have had similar problems and have really had to hunt to find all of the filters....and once even had something in the hose that would flip out of the way when I ran something through it, but then would flip closed when air was pulled through in...

I still think you will find there is something blocking the air flow...

Wow, seems like something went wacky internally in that motor.... can you return it under warranty??? How long have you had it...
If too long then getting a new motor will cost more then a new machine...junk it and get a new one...

Very loud screeching ,continuous when turned on

Hi dfabin,

Does the screeching come from the motor area or the brush/belt area?

If it's from the motor. Turn it off. It needs repair.
If it's from the brush/belt area, most likely your belt is either slipping or rubbing on something.
Do you have an owner's manual?
If you do, and the noise come from the belts, take the belt(s) off and check them for wear, stretching, anything imbedded in them. Be sure to clean all debris out of the area. and reassemble. If still noisy, the belt may be slipping and needs to be replaced.
Here's a site where you can view the parts breakdown and order parts: http://www.vacpartswarehouse.com/Bissell-Healthy-Home-Models-5770-5990-6100-6405-s/600.htm

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a vote. Thanks,

Motor noise and burning smell

your belt is of the guide arm try replacing the belt usually located @ the head of the vacum there should be 4-6 screws holding the head on remove it in well ventilated area try putting on mask cause you will release all the dust from the head when you take it apart you will see the belt around the brush remove the brush and bearings togther then replace belt if you know your model # of your vacum u can usually find replacement parts online or @ most sears and walmart outlets.

If you know how to open it's inducton motor and know to replace bushing and bearings, then turn it up-side down and dis-assemble your equipment, replace the bushing and bearings,
if not just bring it to a repair shop then they will be the one who will replace it
