This is going to be a bit long winded so please bear with me\ System mobo: nforce 5m-a gpu gforce 7200 psu generic 450w cpu amd 64x2 4200 Ram generic 1gb onboard sound Ok I hit the power button No lights or beeps the fans start and no post or anything. I let it run like that a few (5) minutes and reboot,,,sometimes I get a hd l.e.d flash or two (fans start up too). I let it run another 5 mins reboot and the power on l.e.d comes on and I get several flashes from the hd led ...no post If i push the reset button sometimes it will boot up ok after that sometimes it is a lost cause...once it boots machine runs fine. Here's what I have done to it so far tried a working power supply from another machine and same results,,,removed ,cleaned and reseated gpu and ram(machine started ok twice after this step) I tried the gpu and ram in another machine and it ran fine... So please any and all suggestions will be appreciated and thanks for reading this....Jerry

This sounds like an OS issue. Like some component is corrupted. I would try to boot in to safe mode and see what happens. If it works in safe mode than i would say it is some kinda software or driver issue. Might even be antivirus software. If you cant boot in to safe mode, have you tired to reload windows. If this is not possible because pc wont run long enough in safe mode or allow to start system reinstall i would remove all components like cd/dvd rom. just unplug the power and ide/sata cable. Re-seat Hard Drive cable(power and connection) remove all external devices like usb keyboard and mouse, printer and what ever else you have. I would also try to remove cmos battery for 1 minute just to reset it. Hope this helps.

Since you have said power supply from another machine if doing same on this machine i would agree that it looks like motherboard is not providing power properly somehow. I doubt it is a cable issue. I mean you can try different power(one of the other power cables that come from power supply) and ide/sata cables but that would be really unusual. Sorry i dont have any other ideas.

CPU fan & PSU fan working but No display coming to the screen

There should be some sort of beeps then. No beeps is an indication the CPU or RAM is not seated properly. You need to refer to board manual if there are beeps.
There is also the matter of... Never mind I just noticed the CPU is an 8 core CPU, but the board supports quad core.

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it

IT seems no problem with your specification, but only one thing less in this criteria. What inch does your monitor? This must be match with the specification of your VGA Card, The more resolution you can get the best performance of this VGA card you can achieve, try to higher the resolution of your monitor , don't only use 1024 x 768 , but try another higher resolution. The VGA itself cannot reduce the system perfomance, because your vga card has GPU (This VGA card has his own processor and memory) just like mini computer inside your main computer.Hope this things can solve your problem, don't forget to vote

Brand new motherboard wont start up

Hi,
try taking 1 stick of ram off the motherboard, and boot up with 1 stick in slot 1 or 2.
You should get some beeps, 1 is system Ok.
3 is usually RAM/Graphics problems.
Also try booting with the motherboard setup disk in the CD Drive, it may be looking for files to initialise the Board.
And the obvious, check that all cabling is correct from mainboard to front panel. Power on/off Reset et,c.
View the user manual to see if the board has any jumper/dip switch settings for different configurations.
