Have you considered NOT connecting your camera to your computer?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo-cataloging program.

And what about those who have photos stored IN the camera!. Do they just twiddle their thumbs? Dont forget this is a Kodak Product. If you got a cd, Use it,install the shareware get your photos off then never use the internal and then follow K_akima's advice.

Deanmrd,
Sounds like a driver communication issue. Please try uninstalling the driver and related software, reboot, and then re-install. Make sure to reboot in between.

Thanks.

Go to Kodak's website and download the software. Here is the link: http://support.en.kodak.ca/app/answers/detail/a_id/32108/session/L3RpbWUvMTI5OTk2NzA1Ni9zaWQvT3ozbEpNb2s%3D%2Fselected%2Ftrue/selected/true

It looks like the software supports Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista but it does not support Windows XP 64-bit.

If you have Windows XP but don't know if it is 32- or 64-bit then do the following.
1) Right-click on My Computer
2) Left-click Properties
3) The top half of the resulting window will show Windows XP then 64-bit. If you do not see 64-bit anywhere then you are using the 32-bit version.

You have to get 64-bit Windows 7 drivers for your printer and other accessories, and many programs have a 64-bit version also. Did you download the 64-bit Windows 7 version from Kodak? That's the one you need.
PlanetAMD64.com has good information for you and many drivers listed.

32 bit and 64 bit drivers are not compatible. So for 64 bit operational system you have to install 64 bit drivers for your Kodak Easyshare 5100. I found link for you:
http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=9099&product=EKN033539
I am strongly suggesting uninstall everything what are you installed ignoring warnings about incopatibility before installing proper drivers! Good luck! :-)

I Can''t get it to work on a windows XP Proffesional x64

I went to the Kodak site and found that it only supports a 32 bit platform. No drivers for 64 bit. Here is the copy and past from the Kodak site.

Microsoft WIN2K, WINXP pro, VISTA (32bit only)
