Question about ViewSonic PJ551 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

My projector won't recognize my dvd player. I have tried both the component video cable and the s-video cable and a couple different DVD players. What could be the problem? it was working fine the last time I used it. It just stays on the main screen cycling through the computer connection, s-video, and component. Thanks!

SOURCE: dvd player to projector

Yes please.
You can connect it either thru the RCA Composite output(yellow) of your DVD or thru the S-Video or even thru the component out(YPbPR) connections. In the component out you would require three RCA cables and would give you the best possible picture.
Find a link below , which gives a review of the Viewsonic PJ 501.

SOURCE: my projector won't project anything.

Disconnect all inputs to the BENQ and power on. Do the lights come on as per normal operation. Does the lamp come on when the power button is pressed. Does anything show when the menu is selected.

My dvd player is hooked up to t.v. but only plays movies in black/white

How is the DVD player connected to the TV? If you are using component video, check that the cables are connected correctly.

If you switch the order on two of the cables, the black and white result is common. So double-check that the red, blue and green connections (RPbPy) have been connected to both devices in the same order. Next try a different set of component video cables, in case one of the wires is damaged.

If possible, try a different type of connection to rule out a damaged input/output. Connect the TV to a different DVD player or the DVD player to another TV, if possible, to rule out similar damage.

Please add a comment with the connection type for additional support. I hope this helps.

Dell 1200MP works with PC but not the DVD player,

Hi.

If you have a replacement cable test the DVD using a different cable, you never know.

Try the following:

  • Unplug both projector and DVD from power.
  • Keep units connected together by video cable.
  • Connect back and restart the DVD first.
  • Restart the projector only once that DVD is ON.

If it still does not work , then there may be a fault.

I cant play my dvd on my infocus LP280 projector

Hi,
Please provide us with more details like the DVD player make/model and what is the connection cable you are using.
Normally, you should be able to connect the DVD player through the AV out pins and connnect it to AV in of the projector.
Other options that can be used are:
S-Video connector, component video connectors, and DVI-D connections
Please reply for more help and clarifications. Thanks.

Projector giving green picture it is ok with RCA inputs ok with S video input but if i connect component connector like 15 pin vga from dvd player it gives green picture but with same cable if i connect pc...

I think, the issue might be because of lenght of the composite cable. Not all projectors can "recognize the signal" on too long composite cables, try a "standard size" cable used on monitors, it is i THINK 1,8 feet long...? Dunno. Try two short cables and see if you get "green" - if not, then your cable is too long and gives the signal to much "resistance", so your projector can "read" only one of the color channels, in your case green. If your projector setup requires long cables (and it usually does ;) ), you will have to stick to Cinch connectors and analog video signal, which I have tested on 35m long cable without any visible quality loss. Hope this helps. ;)

The Denon does not down scale you can not plug a DVD or other device in to the Denon using HDMI and have it come out Component, if your projector only has Component video inputs you must use Component video connections from the DVD and Cable box to the Denon

No input detected on projector

it sounds like the A/V reciever does not upconvert the component signal to HDMI. Not many do. The Marantz recievers will (SR6001, SR8001, etc..). Also bear in mind that HDMI cables are finicky and may require amplification over a few meters long.
