Question about Water Pik Hand Held Shower

1 Answer

I have little black pieces coming out of my water pipes that I filter out of everywhere except the WaterPik handheld shower. If I use the filter there, I get hardly any water coming out. So the little black pieces from my water pipes clog the holes in my shower head. How do I get rid of them. In other words, how do I take the showerhead apart to clean it from the inside?

Make sure the washer is setting inside the shower head properly. If you over tighten it you could crack the body of the shower head making it impossible to repair. Be careful. Remember you may need thread sealant too.

Continuous flow through shower even when off

you probably have galvanized pipes still, each time you turn off the water bits of rust will break loose and travel throughout the system , which in turn clogs , or holds open valves,, what you need to do, ( or have someone do for you) remove those valves that have been effected, and clean them out( you can do this easily by just turning on the main slightly with the valve out ,, But be ready for a wet mess ,, do it quickly and for just a short burst,, you'll more than Likely see that the toilet fills slowly since they get clogged also

In the hand held shower head where the hose attaches to shower head. In the head there could be a flow restrictor. It may be rubber or plastic. In some cases you can remove it, or check if something is blocking it. Also try running the shower without the head on to see if there is some debris in the hose, and to check your water flow.

Alot of newer shower controls have a tempering valve on them. You need to open up the front of the unit (hopefully you have your owners manual and adjust the inner workings) this should solve your problem
