Question about MP3 & Digital Media Players

1 Answer

I have an 8 GB Creative Zen V Vision. The player is frozen. I can't take out the battery because it is a permanent battery, unable to take out by any means. I have tried to turn it off, and I have tried pressing every button on the player. I cannot manually override anything. Please help

Did you try the reset method suggested in your user's manual? Creative does not list a reset method on their website.

If that fails:

Step by step instructions for formatting a player

  1. Detach the player from the PC if it is connected, and turn off the player.
  2. Press and hold the Play button while powering on the player.
  3. When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button
  4. Select Format (All) and select Yes to format the player.
  5. After the player has finished formatting, select Reboot.
  6. Re-transfer the tracks to the player.

The heading for your question says "Creative Zen Vision:M Digital media" I do not think that there was an 8GB Vision M. I have a 30 GB Vision M and I think there was only a 30 and a 60 GB of that model.Perhaps you have another model, and it could be a 20gb, as that what you may be seeing. Any way look on the back and select your model from the Creative page here: http://support.creative.com/Products/product_list.aspx?catID=948&CatName=Entertainment+Devices+%2f+MP3+Players#

It will tell you the specs of the model you have. a further search of the site could also answer some of the questions you have about the player.

Creative Zen M:vision - can't turn on/off, permanent blue light

Well, i didn't charge mine over night, was listening to it in the evening while doing some chores and all of a sudden it stopped playing, Blank screen and permanent Blue light. I tried to turn if off but it didn't respond so i left it. In the morning, it went off itself (guess the battery was low). So i connected to the computer and inserted the ZEN CD. As i was exploring the CD looking for a solution, then all of a sudden the screen came up with a note "Rebuilding..." after 5 secs it came on. With all my files intact! I hope this wud be helpful, You could give it a shot, after all there's nothing to loose!

Upgrade the firmware to version 1.62.02. That should solve all your problems. Go to www.creative.com to download the firmware.

It's permanently frozen

Sounds like you have a bad hard drive and will need to get it replaced. You should take it to a technician, or if you feel confident enough, buy another hard drive and install it yourself.
