TV turns off on its own

may be bad solder connections for the turn off issue but someone who knows what to look for would have to open set and inspect.

Panel block will be in the owner manual and should not cause the set to turn off.

Take batteries off the remote and check if it is the remote , otherwise it is a stuck key on the tv or the control board is gone,

Have you tried to unplug the TV set for a half hour or so? If not see if that helps reset the set. If that does not work, make sure that none of the front panel channels buttons on the front of the TV set is not pushed in and stuck. Or if all this is checked and the TV set still scrolls, there is a problem in the remote sensor, or the front panel board will need to be replaced. Good Luck

RCA 32v550t. The parental control has been accidently activated and i can't figure out the code. The front panel has also been locked please help me.

Hello Most RCA and GE TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset procedure is different depending on the model. Try each method until you find one that works

  1. Hold down MENU on the remote and VOLUME DOWN on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  2. Hold down the 0 on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN buttons on the TV its self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
  3. Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds
  4. Hold down GO BACK on the remote and MENU on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

RCA Truflat 20F512T turns itself off and on

If it is an intermittent problem, changing the tact switches on the main board solves a lot of these problems. Tact switches are on front of main chassis where customer controls activate them.

I had the same problem and eventually found the solution. the tact switches behind the front panel buttons will leak when they get old causing them to activate on their own. your channel up or down button is stuck on. take off the back cover and you will see a small clip in circuit board behind the front panel. take out the board and remove the channel up or down switch and your set should work fine again. the remote will still work fine for changing the channels.

You are going to have to check all of the small tact switches behind the push buttons in the front of the TV set. In the past, someone may have cleaned the picture tube and the liquid dripped down onto the switches and corroded them, or one is stuck closed or the remote sensor is bad. The best way to test this would be to replace the entire switch panel in the front of the TV set. Good Luck
