Question about Cobra 148 GTL 120-Channels Base CB Radio
Your problem is NOT a "tune-up" but an "ALIGNMENT" issue. Tune-ups are simply raising the output and receive capabilities in radios. When you take your radio to a tec, have him install a "swing kit" and ask to have the "dead key" as low as possible (2 watts or under). Ask that he turns up the modulation and NOT CLIP THE RESISTOR!!!. Clipping a resistor can result in an over modulated radio with no control to adjust! Also ask him to adjust the "receive" and make sure it is maxed out!!! I could look up the specifics and tell you where all the adjustments are but it would do you no good if you do not have a watt meter but still, it won't solve the alignment issue so take it to a tec!

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. It will take a tune-up that involves some expensive meters. The tune-up should be only about $35.00 to $45.00. The 148 is a great radio, I have three myself and they are great. Only your local licence tech. can do it, or any CB shack. Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa...John
