Question about Washing Machines
I have a front loading Frigidaire Model#CRTF1240ASO that we purchased in 2003. For the past year, we've sporadically been getting small spots/stains on our towels and clothes. Now, the other day it started clicking while spinning and yesterday it was squeaking. Today, it stopped spinning the clothes sufficiently during the final spin. Of course, the warranty ran out 6 weeks ago. The service call is going to cost $75 and they won't be here until Friday. I'd like an idea of how much this might cost to fix. If the cost to repair the machine and pay for laundry service for a week on top of the service call is going to add up too a great deal, I might as well buy a new machine.
Thanks for your help!

I have the HE3T which is 6 yo. Last week it started making a loud banging noise in the spin cycle. I had a repairman come out. He said it is the drum bearings. He said that it is a problem with these machines and to call Sears. He said that the drum and bearing is one assembly and that Sears should cover it.
I called today and Sears todl me that I have to pay for a Sears technician to come out a determine if it is indeed the problem. If so, it will be covered under the lifetime warranty on the drum. I have to pay for the service call $75.00 and if it is the problem, I will be reimbursed. Cross my fingers!

SOURCE: My frigidaire stopped working
The bearings are bad. My sears kenmore did the same thing. Do you have hard water, that would be one cause. Or maybe it's still under warrenty because it is not a cheap fix.

Tips for a great answer:
Thank you for your post, Tom Lau!
I see that you are having a difficult time with your Frigidaire washer, FAFS4474LW, taking long a time to complete a cycle and not rinsing the clothes out enough. This could be a possible problem with your sensor or control panel on your washer. You may want to perform a reset on your washer to help clear out any miscommunication within the washer. In order to perform a reset you would need to flip the household circuit breaker off for roughly ten minutes. If you continue to have issues with your washer after the reset I would recommend seeking assistance from a professional. This will help you to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Best of luck! -Matt

I appreciate your post, Kathy Saalfeld!
From my understanding on permanent press your Frigidaire washer will not spin out enough water. This could be a possible issue with your control panel or sensor within the inside of your washer. You may want to review your drain tube to assure that it is not restricted or kinked. This could be a possible problem with your drain pump or timer. You may need to consult with a professional technician for a proper diagnosis and repair to be performed on your washer. Good luck. -Matt

I appreciate your post, Rachel Kovach!
From my understanding your Frigidaire frontload washer is not spinning the final spinning and the clothes are still wet. If you washer is overloaded it will not spin properly to release the water out of the clothes. Also, a small load will cause your washer to not spin properly. You should additionally check the drain hose to make sure it not kinked or twisted that could cause your improper draining. If all that checks properly it could be an issue with your drain pump, motor, and control panel. I would suggest consulting with a technician for proper diagnosis and repair. This will help avoid unnecessary part purchases. -Matt
