Question about Computers & Internet

Trying to connect my samsung led tv to the net through my samsung blu-ray player. i'm connected to the net because i can plug my laptop into the connection and get on. It won't auto config so i attempted to input the ip (192.168.0.116), subnet mask(255.255.255.0), gateway(70.157.156.231) and dns server(205.152.128.23). All these numbers came from my router except the ip which i just picked a number between 100-199. It's a d-link router) it comes back ok but the ping is in error. telling me it's not connected to the lan.

DTV, Blu-ray et.al. is new to me. Shortly after I posted the question I figured I'd try plugging the lan cable directly into the Blu-ray and, well I just learned something. (Some days are like that).

Well the reason for this can be the IP you have picked. Did you try obtaining it from ipconfig(in command prompt0?

Is there an adapter to switch tv to smart tv

No, but most Blu-ray players are "smart" players and include a Netflix app as well as other services such as HULU, Amazon, etc. Usually, the Blu-ray player will have stickers or or emblems printed on the box or the on the player itself with "Netflix" , etc.
Connect the Blu-ray player to the TV using an HDMI cable. Connect the Blu-ray player to your router/home network with an ethernet cable or wirelessly if your player has built-in Wi-fi. Once that is done you can go to the Main Menu on the player and select Netflix. That should open the Netflix app and connect you for watching Netflix.

How does one stream netflix via Blu Ray wired to ISP through a tv?

First you have to hook up network cable to Blue Ray player and to router
Next update software in Blue Ray player by going thru your menu in blue ray player to settings
If you have your blue ray player with Netflix app then all
you do is click on app and log in.
And make sure HDMI cable is plugged into TV.
And that should work for you. Any problems write me back.

How do I connect my Samsung BD-E5400 blu ray player to tv and watch netflix with a wired internet connection?

From the modem to the blu-ray use an ETHERNET cable. From the blu-ray to TV use an HDMI cable. They only fit in the right terminals.

Why wont my samsung dvd-vr357 play blu ray disks

Educated guess is you need a blu ray player. I have several very expensive Pioneer Elite DVD players and they cannot play blu ray. Blu ray is a multi level glorified DVD which you need at least a blu ray player to play in almost all cases.

You can play dvds on a blue ray but not the reverse in most cases. If you play a dvd on a blu ray player it kicks the video up to HD for the DVD.

I am trying to connect a Samaung Blu Ray Player (model no. BD-D5300) to a Samsung Full HD LED TV (model UA22D5000NM). The TV is working and the player is connected with a DVD 'playing' but nothing is...

This might seem a little out there but you have hit the source button and scrolled down to the correct HDMI input for the device? Also if you dont see the correct input when you hit the source button then in the settings you might have that particular HDMI connection turned off.

Trying to connect a new Samsung Bd-C5500 to my old Sony tv. Can't even get the set-up screen to come up on the TV. All we have is a TV, a Cable box and this new Samsung. We bought it because it is...

That depends on the connections your Sony TV has. If it has only the coaxial connector (the cable looks like this: http://www.w-l-t.org/Pix/Coax%20w-F%20connector.jpg), then you'll connect a VCR to that, and then the blu-ray player to the connections on the VCR using the composite cables (yellow, red, white). Switch the VCR to channel "L" or "Line" (usually below channel 2), and it should pass the video through to the television. Of course, if the TV itself has the yellow, white, and red connectors, you should just be able to connect the Blu-ray directly into that.
Also, it may be possible to connect your cable box as an intermediary like I just described with the VCR, depending on your model of cable box.

The Blu-ray players need a firmware update, otherwise some new disc may not play.
