it must be your remote has been broken (just like my remote on tv) better to buy a new remote or buy a universal remote control.

I'd go with a Logitech remote, found at Walmart or other general store that sells electronics. You can program them for just about anything and most have multiple inputs so you can control a lot of items with one remote.

1) power on the player with no disk in the drive 2) pres pause on the remote 3) enter "314159" on the remote 4) enter "0" on the remote (0 = all regions, 1 = region 1 etc) 5) press pause on the remote 6) power the player off and then back. If you lost the programing manual for your remote check the manufacturer of the remote's website and look for either a download of the code book or a list of codes for your remote model. You may need to look at small print or a back label of the remote for a model number.

It shouldn't make any difference what mode the TV is in when programming the remote control. After you replace the batteries, just reprogram the control with whatever code you used before. If you didn't make a note of the code, use the remote's code search feature. That only needs the TV to be on, so that it shuts off when you find the right code. Once the remote has the right code back in it, you'll be able to switch the TV out of video mode.

You can try a code seach which many universal remotes will do, this may be called auto search, if you have the manual for the RCA see if it is listed, instead of entering a 3 digit code, you cycle through all codes until the correct one responds to the unit you are trying to program.
