Thanks for your help, i think i've got it by changing the boot order in the BIOS, I put removable as my third boot device and that seems to have done it, so far anyway.
    Thanks again

You may have to remove then reinstall the drivers.
Also try taking out any memory card that you have in the printer.
Then turn on the computer.
Also, try turning on the computer first and then plug in the printer, first with the printer power off and then with the printer power on.
If there still is a problem, let me know please.
thanks

Does this printer have memory card slots? Is there a memory card or flash disk attached? If so, remove the memory card or flash disk. The computer is attempting to boot off of these slots. To change it, go into your computers BIOS and disable boot from other device option.

Lexmark X3470 All-In-one Scanner keep on saying it Busy

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

My scanner on my lexmark x3470 will not scan when i press start it just continues to promt me to press the start button. how am i meant to scan documents?

Try to unplug the power adapter from the printer. Unplug and replug the power cord into the power source. Then replug the power adapter into the printer. This give enough time for the printer to reset itself.

My x3470 scanning function is not working. No

Maybe try to uninstall all Lexmark Software, restart your PC and then reinstall the printer again along with all the software. That should work.

Old computer died. new computer has Windows 7. Can't get printer to install even though it says it is and status is good. Help!

Try the link "Upgrading to Windows 7?" from this Lexmark support page. This is also where you would download the software for your model and OS.

If attempting a reinstallation, uninstall the current printer driver first and follow the "Upgrading to Windows 7?" information.

Computer cannot communicate with printer

either port or driver problem. you may have to make adjustments in BIOS under peripheral devices. default is auto, change to assign manually and assign a port for com 1, com 2, printer.
reboot
right click MY COMPUTER, PROPERTIES, HARDWARE, DEVICE MANAGER; scroll down to com 1 and com 2 ports (above printer port) make sure no yellow explanation marks which indicate a port conflict. NO PRINTER WILL PRINT.
go to mfr website and download driver for your printer
click MY COMPUTER, PROPERTIES, HARDWARE, DEVICE MGR;
scroll down to printer port; right click; PROPERTIES, click on change driver; browse over to where you download drivers; keep going down the tree until you get to DRIVERS (select the folder with your operating system) click on it to OPEN into dialogue box (in change driver wizard which is open) and hit enter; THE WIZARD WILL INSTALL THE CORRECT DRIVER FOR YOUR PRINTER.
HAPPY PRINTING.

This came right off of the lexmart site

Attention Windows Vista Users: Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.
