SOURCE: cold freezer warm fridge.

That sound was the evaporator fan motor in the freezer. This circulates the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food section. If this is not running you need to check for power to it. If the fan has power to it but not running, replace it. It should be located behind freezers back wall inside of freezer near top.

SOURCE: Chemical smell from refridgerator

Most refrigerator use R22 freon and this stuf does not smell very much. Maybe there is some milk or blood comming from a leakink pack, that entered between interior panel joints. Try placing an opened Harm & Hammer soda box; this could catch the odors. If after a week or so, this did not resolved this issue, I one had to replace some mineral wool (insulation) that as been contaminated with rotten food.

SOURCE: Ice and Refrigerator and Freezer smell like alcohol chemical

All items stored in the refrigerator and freezer should be stored in sealed packaging. Frost free refrigerator operate with a very low humidity and will pick up odors from products. Somewhat of an ozone smell will be in some frozen foods. This is a normal condition. Deodorizing packs are available on the market to absorb odors. Baking soda does the job in most cases.

SOURCE: fridge is warm even when i adjust temp. control.freezer is good.

if your fridge has 2 set of dials one numbers and the other letters than you need to adjust the dial that has letters on it. If the fan in your freezer is not blowing, then it won't force the cold air from the freezer to the fridge. Make sure fan blows then adjust the letter knob.

Sears Kenmore refrigerator odor in freezer?

A quick phone call to Sears or a local appliance service center may be in order. Since the evaporator that cools everything is located inside or very near the back of the freezer and the freezer has the lowest air circulation of the entire refrigerator, I would suspect a small refrigerant leak. Many refrigerants have strong odorizing chemicals added for just this purpose. Natural gas for heating has these same chemicals to warn us of the danger if a leak occurs. If it is a leak it's not dangerous, but very soon you will come home to a warm fridge and thawed food. Prior to that you'll hear the fridge running constantly as it tries to maintain the proper temp.

The cooling is not sufficient. I am running the fridge at the maximum and yet every thing is defrosting in the freezer. In the fridge part also the problem is the same.

thermostat defective/Short of gas/chocked/no gas.
1. Thermostat is malfunctioned-Replace it. 2. Check amps of the fridge if run amps is less than as specified, it's gas leak. 3. Keep your arm on condenser line. If it's warm, gas is there. Check slight whistling sound in freezer. If not system chocked.
For gas leak find leak and arrest it. Then vacuum and do gas charging.
For chocked system, release all gas and flush out the system. Replace filter drier and vacuum and do gas charging. Helpful?

Phillips whirlpool built in fridge /freezer smell coming from the fridge section,we have tried various things but the smell still persists

Could it be that there is degradation of the plastics due to heating of the defrosting coils or is it the smell off leaked gas.
Remove all the food stuff from the fridge and clean, wash the inside throughly. Now restart the fridge and after aboutone hour check for smell, continue this till you notice, if the smell comes in after about 10 hours then you must look into the defrosting heater for any traces of material on it causing the smell on heat.

Whenever I turn on my fridge it sounds like it is releasing gas and there is a funky smell in the fridge. I think it may be leaking some chemical but I cannot find the source of the leak anywhere.

If you have noticed this leak then this will be best seen when it starts cold. So shut it down and after removing all food from inside , restart and feel/listen/smell for the leak.
If you notice this slight smell coming from the cooling coils inthe freezer section, then do not waste time but shut it down.
You will need to remoe gas off by pumping , then the system be pressurised and checked for leak.
Get help with the equipments to check /estimate/confirm forr you to decide.
But always try to get a warranty on work if there is high estimate but decide with the cost of a new one. j

Chemical smell in refrigerator

wipe it out with a clorine bleach solution, leave the door ajar to gas off and use a syringe to blow out the drain hole.wipe dry then cover any open topped food containers with cling film.as all fridge/freezers work best when 3/4 full.use empty airtight boxes to fill any spaces,she/he will notice a big difference in lower running costs...
whilst the freezer may be frost free, the fridge is not, so expect condensation to form on any gloss surfaces...(the more airspace the more condensation........)

I believe that you might have a coolant leak causing the chemical odor. You really should get it checked out by a fridge repair-person because it's not healthy to breathe in the fumes.
