Question about Singer 7442 Mechanical Sewing Machine
All newer machines require little maintence except in the bobbin area, and the area above the needle. simply place a few drops on the shaft that allows the needle to go up and down and keep lint free, you can use canned air for this. The area below the cover plate and the bobbin case need cleaned after every 8 to 10 hours of sewing. you can remove the cover plate by removing the two screws the plate should lift up so you can clean the feeddogs and bottom of plate, if you remove the bobbin at the same time you can clean this area and oil the center of bobbin area of machine , oil any parts the move or have oil ports, these are very small and look like a nut with a hole in the center, one or two drops are all that is needed. replace all parts and test a scrap piece to make sure no oil gets on current project.
