There is obviously no "hand shake" from one receiver to the other receiver.
If all cables check out OK and you are certain the connections are fine, try connecting them together in the same room before re install the programme on each PC. I cannot say which end is at fault, if indeed the system has a fault. Keeping a logical head on is the only way to fix these problems.
Hope this helps.

Talk talk my account 1008829859

You really need to contact your phone firm, your provider. I thought they must keep your phone line "alive" so you can make emergency calls.
Talk Talk must be the service coming in with the land line and works as ADSL. If the line is down, nothing works.

What is an error 283 on a hp officejet J6400

  • A communication failure occurred between the two machines.
  • The user at the remote machine might have pressed the Stop key.
  • The call waiting service can cause this error. The click, heard for an incoming call, is actually a momentary disconnect of the line. Do not use call waiting on a line with a fax machine.
  • The power at the remote machine was interrupted, or deliberately turned off causing the fax session to be interrupted.

  • If the error persists, and error correction is in use for the fax session, disable ECM. Fax quality might be degraded. Click here for instructions on enabling and disabling ECM (c00060802) (in English).
  • Set the host machine to receive at a slower transmission speed.
  • Retry the fax reception at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve. These errors can occur if the phone lines in the area to be faxed are old or there is noise (static on the phone line). Other reasons can include power brownouts and other power-related problems

Phone does not ring on incoming calls. The manual suggests "make sure ringer is on." Where is the ringer?

Ringer On/Off and Ringer Volume 1. Make sure your phone is in idle mode. (not in Talk mode) 2. Press the VOL (- or +) button to activate the ringer volume setting. 3. Press either the LINE 1 or LINE 2 Soft key to select the desired line. 4. The LCD will display the volume range and currently-selected volume in an ascending series of bars. 5. Press the VOL (- or +) button up or down to increase or decrease the volume in steps. 6.The system will retain the last entry, it is not necessary to save or acknowledge your selection from this mode.
It is also possible you have set the DND (Do Not Disturb) feature which will also caution your phone not to ring when a call comes in.
Have a great day. Hope this helps.

Message on handset reads - "Check TEL Line"

This generally indicates a phone line tha is dead. It may have timed out because a phone on the line has been left or knocked "off-hook". If so hangup the offending phone. In a short time the problem will self-correct. Beyond that, unplug ALL the phone appliences ( Fax,Computer, phones) Then, after waiting about 5min plug in 1 phone to see if it works. If that worked, re plug in the remaining items 1 at a time checking that the phone still works. If it quits, the last item you plugged in is likely causing the trouble. If the phone did not work, then go to the demarcation test box(ouside where the phone line comes in) open the portion which does NOT have the tamper proof screw. Unplug the short jumper wire and plug in a telephone. If the phone works there, the incoming phone service is ok, if it doesn't work call for service. If callers have complained tha you seem to pick up then immediately hang up, clean accumulated dust from jacks that are on outside walls particularly any near humidfiers tha may have caused the dust to become conductive. (a vacume cleaner should work) PS look for chewed cords (cats, dogs)

    Tranmitting distance

Generally speaking a 2-way radio will talk as far as it can see. Height and placement of antenna determines range. So if you were talking from a Mountain to a valley you could talk a great distance. However, in the real world there are obstacles, such as trees, houses, varied terrain. You generally would expect a radio to talk line-of-sight up to two miles. Or 1/4 to 1/2 mile if talking from inside a building to outside. The quote of 5 miles in literature is referencing ideal conditions. (Much like when the new car you are looking at quotes the MPG.)
