Question about Lexmark X3470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

The scanning beam is not going to the left, it is always at the right and says nock nock, even if the belt is running slowly but maybe the belt runs wrong way.

Unplug the printer and try to manually move the beam assembly to the left slowly. There might be an obstruction in the path of the scanning beam or some dirt causes it to stuck.

How do I know when time belt is bad?

Normally there is not way to tell if you belt is going bad, meaning its running good and near breaking point. Usually timing belts should be changed every 100 150k miles. Sometimes even less depending on what kind of belt you get. So if you car/truck is above 150kmiles or even near it id change it.

When change the belt, make sure you have your timing marks lined up before taking the old belt off. If you do this right, nothing will move when you take the old belt off and you wont have to worry about timing the motor. Also it helps to take number one cylinder spark plug out and put a screw driver inside of it when rotating the motor to see where Top Dead Center (TDC) is. If you do that make sure you rotate the motor slowly, you don't want to rush and damage anything. And as always make sure you have a manual!

I have a 1994 geo metro. The headlights went out. I checked the fuses. They were ok. The ground wire in the under dash fuse box looked discolored. I made a ground and the left side head light came on...

On these cars the headlights get power from a right and left fuse and the headlight / dimmer switches provide the ground circuit. Both headlights are connected to one ground wire for high and one for low beam. So if one works and the other does not, the problem should be in the wiring before the headlight switch. Red is for high beam and red-white is for low beam. You should be able to jumper the red-white wire on the right headlight and make the low beam circuit for both sides work to test it.

old post, on 1.0L 3 cylinder engine. can get 50mpg.
hacks we cant help on.
but stock cars , yes,
ever you ever heard of and OBD2 scan tool?
it works on that car. (if USA spec)

no engine power , misfires, idle out of control
this engine is MPI Air density system, 16valves, with MAF.
if tuned up, and if spark is good an compression over 170psi x4
then its fuel issues.
here is the list.:
  1. all fuses checked with a meter,
  2. Check engine light on key on,if not the ECU is sick.
  3. CHeck engine light off running, if not post DTC errors.
  4. SCAN it, got more DTCs that is right, Canada version hides many errors, so not scanning it makes you blind. to all that. SCAN it.
  5. so are spark plugs black?
  6. is the exhaust manifold cracked sucking in air and making the 02 front sensor go nuts?
  7. Is the EGR main valve stuck open, (top failure for stalls)
  8. fuel pressure at spec, and leak down test pass?
  9. leaking injector, clogged injector (starves)
  10. CAT , melted. (kills all power, even wide open throttle power.)
  11. never tuned up ever. or allowed the timing belt to slip and now fails the compression test.

Whoa. Stop. Take the valve cover off. You'll probably see the problem. Maybe a rocker arm has come loose.

Any oil is better than no oil. Put some motor oil in there before you run it any more, even if it isn't exactly right.
