Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

My vacuum stopped working. If it is plugged in and not connected to the power nozzle and you turn it on nothing happens. If you plug in the power nozzle it turns and works fine but no suction.

Depending on your unit, and how old it might be, it could be the motor, wiring, or even a fuse next to or on the motor. The power is working fine you have said because the power nozzle works, but because there is no suction I am leaning towards a suction motor in this case.

    I've only had it for 7 months! It's a Kenmore Progressive 116.28614801

ok in this case, it is possible that it is either a relay not connecting to the motor, or the fuse within the motor casing. Either way, it is less than the 1year manufacturer warranty. Take it back to sears there and they should be able to take care of it for you under warranty at no charge.

The power nozzle on my c141b model aerus electrolux canister vaccum no longer turns on. It was working when a large stringy object was sucked in. When hitting the red reset button, nothing happens. Is...

It's not a fuse.
Turn the power nozzle on it's top. Try to rotate the brush. If it won't spin, there's till something holding it. Remove all strings, threads, and whatnot from the roller. Try to rotate it again. If it still won't spin, it needs to be taken to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store for diagnosis and/or repair.
Try connecting the hose directly to the power nozzle to see if runs. If it does there's most likely a broken or disconnected wire/cord somewhere in the wands, or the power nozzle. If it doesn't, the problem is with the power nozzle. It could be the motor, although that's unlikely. Other possibilities are broken or disconnected wires or a bad switch. Again, it needs to be taken to the shop to be diagnosed.
Disconnect cord to the power nozzle and examine the prongs on the cord and the terminals in the power nozzle. If there's any discoloring or cracks, they need replaced. Reinsert plug and make sure it fits tightly.
Disconnect cord from wand plug and check for the same things.

The brush is not working when I turn the power on and the belt appears to be on and intact. How do I fix it?

This is actually a bad design by Bissell. Remove the Lift-Off portion of your vacuum cleaner. Down at the bottom, where the Lift-Off portion was sitting, you should see a small electrical plug part. What usually happens is this plug arc's, which causes it to burn the plug, and stop the power nozzle from spinning. If you see any black, or burning around this plug, take your vacuum back into Bissell, they will fix this, or give you a new vacuum for free. They don't even sell us their warranty stations this plug piece, you can only exchange it for a new vacuum.

If this is not burned, check the reset button for the brush, it's either located near the plug, or on the side of the brush portion of the vacuum.

I hope this was helpful to you.

Power nozzle N106M on our Electrolux Guardian has stopped workin

Start simplest always and work back to most difficult... so make sure you have power to the main unit, do you have a cheap voltmeter? If not they're cheap... Second check that connection plug is not stuffed with debris. Point is isolate whether it is the unit or attachment, most likely it's in the connection and repairable by you or used vacuum repair.

Lux legacy canister vacuum - the top light on the canister went on. No power to the bottom of the roller. What does that light mean. Looks like a plug

The "plug" light simply tells you the machine is plugged in and receiving power.
I'm not sure what you mean by "no power to the bottom of the roller". If the power nozzle motor isn't working, make sure nothing is wrapped around the brush, remove if there is, and press the reset switch.
If the power nozzle motor is running, but the brush isn't turning, then the belt must have broken, and needs to be replaced.
Considering your machine may still be under warranty, I suggest taking it to a local Aerus dealer and having it replaced.

Central Vacuum works when power switch on canister is turned on, but will not turn on when connecting the hose.

DOes it not work on any of your wall inlet valves? If all wall inlets appear dead take a coin making a connection with both of the contacts inside the throat of the valve. If the vacuum turns on the problem is in your hose or the powerhead. If nothing happens plug in your hose and try wiggling the low voltage wires at the vacuum as you leave the hose plugged in with the swich on your in the "on" position ( if you have a switch) If still nothing unscrew all valve plates from wall leaving wires attatched. Inspect all connections for loose wires or wires that have come off terminals. .

Powerhead on rainbow not working

If the motor is NOT running - press the red button on the nozzle (assuming you have the model with the button on the nozzle)
If it stops working as soon as you release the button - you need a new circuit breaker. If Motor in the nozzle works but brush does not spin - you have to replace the belt.

Good Luck
