Question about Dryers
My 6 year old 80 series Kenmore (model # 11062802101) electric dryer quit drying on high 3 months ago. Now Medium has failed and can only dry on delicate. What is the cause and how can I fix myself? electric dryer
I am not familiar with this particular dryer but most of the Kenmore family use different thermostats for different temperature. They are usually located in the rear and are clustered on the blower housing. Take the two wires off one thermostat at a time and test. It should be closed when cold if not replace it (Usually around $15 each) You probably have a very dangerous clogged exhaust. This will cause thermostats to fail. and can cause a fire. CLEAN It out and dont use flexible plastic duct pipe. The other cause of thermostat failure is if the washer doesn't spin properly and the clothes are too wet when dried. A properly operating dryer will not take much longer than 45 minutes max to dry a load.
