Question about Compaq Presario 5240 (353200-003) PC Desktop
I have a question: because my almost 10 years old compaq presario 5240 is reaching a prehistoric age by now i'd like to replace the whole motherboard by a new one.
I was thinking of a new AMD 780G-chipset with Athlon 64 LE-1600 processor. ( iam looking for a low budget solution ).
the only problem is i dont know if this all will fit into my case.
the measurement of the original motherboard are 28 cm by 22,7.
And how about the big switching power supply? Do i also have to replace this old one or can i use it with the new motherboard? If no,wich power supply do i have to use.
And last but dont least: the DDR RAM memory.can i use the ones i already have in the new motherboard?
You will need a new case and a new power supply. I would replace the memory as well.
Compaq had a tendency to make cases to only fit their boards back then. Youre better off building a new unit and starting over again.
