Hello baylie101, this message shows when the camera picks up a lens fault, if the camera has taken a knock or drop something could have went faulty in the lens. camera should be looked at by a qualified technician.

My camera is a Lumix DMC - LS70 and the same thing was happening to me, the camera kept telling me to turn it off which never solved the problem and the lens never closed when the camera turned off. What i did was, i zoomed out as i turned the camera on (while it was in a picture taking mode) and it corrected itself. Try it and see what happens.
My got fixed when I gave it 5 gentle, firm bangs on the carpet with the bottom facing down. Got the advice from somebody online, figured, it's already broken and about 2 years old so what do I have to lose? To me was less risky than trying to open it. The focus problem got fixed and so far no message. Worth trying
