Can not use Internet with new Linksys rangeplus...

posted by npht on Jun 14, 2008

I'm using HighSpeed Internet of AT&T and the modem is 2WireGateway. Now I have 2 laptops Sony Vaio VGN - CR 220E and Dell Inspiron 1525, so I bought Linksys rangeplus wireless router to use Internet wirelessly. I run the CD to install into my laptop and then did all the steps correctly. The installation was completely successful, but I cound not use Internet. I had to use the old 2Wire GAteway modem to surf Internet but it is not wireless. What can I do now? Please show me. Thanks a lot.

I have two laptops. Now one laptop has to connect with the wireless routers all the time and the other can use Internet wirelessly.
So Is there any way that I can use Internet on both wirelessly?
Thanks.

Okay chances are your 2wire's ip address is conflicting with your router's ip address. Set up your router to use 192.168.2.1. Save the settings then everything should work for you.

The easiest way is to use your router's setup program. Or you can log in manually by typping the address of the router into your web browser, i.e. http://192.168.1.1 and supplying the default login information (usually admin / admin, but it should be in your documentation).
