It can read all standard symbologies apart from PDF symbologies unless it is equipped with an imager scan engine.

SOURCE: Windows Mobile Symbol Find WLAN error

Warm boot the MC55 if that doesn't help then cold boot it, if that doesn't help then reload the Operating system, if that doesn't fix it then send it back to Motorola for a warranty repair.

Motorola Symbol MC9090-GFOHJEFA6WR - The touch screen is worn and no longer works properly. Can I relplace it myself?

If you really want to? But we can do a touchscreen only replacement (parts + labor) for $95. It is safer than trying yourself.

I need to turn off the beep on the Symbol MC9090 when I use the barcode scanner

What I have done is I taped the speaker opening on the back of the scanner with two stickers to reduce the beep volume to almost zero. So 3 to 4 stickers would probably eliminate the beep completely.

Have an MC9090 that times out after 3mins. I know how to change the timeout in Cntrl panel but the settings go back to original if the scanner is rebooted? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello george parce. You're details are perfect and I can help you here. The reason your settings aren't returning after a reboot is due to the backup battery. I'll spare you the technical details (but if you'd like them, just send me a message or email and I'll happily provide) and get straight to solutions. The backup battery gets it's power from the main battery and also charges thusly. Realize that it usually takes a whopping 15 hours to fully charge this backup battery. I recommend to all my clients having this problem that they leave the unit in it's cradle with the main battery in overnight or a little longer. This will at least get a good charge in the backup battery, if not charge it fully. If the problem persists, I recommend you contact Motorola/Symbol or the vendor you purchased it from about warranty/repair for the backup battery. I hope this helps and at the very least have helped you isolate the issue. Good luck!

How do I change the sleep timer settings on a Motorola MC9090

A - From the Windows Mobile user interface:

1. Tap Start (the Windows Logo), then Settings.
2. Tap the System tab.
3. Tap the Power icon.
4. Tap the Advanced tab.

You can change the number of minutes before power is turned off when on battery and when on external power from there. You can also uncheck the "Turn off device if not used for" check box to disable the timeout entirely.

B - From the registry (useful for deploying the setting as a .reg file to the device, in case you have many MC9090 guns you are supporting or you are wanting to set it to a value the user interface does not support):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts]
"BattSuspendTimeout"=dword:00000000
"ACSuspendTimeout"=dword:00000000

The above values are in hex and represent the number of seconds before timing out when on battery or AC power. For example, to set the BattSuspendTimeout to 180 seconds, you would set it to dword:000000B4. To disable it entirely (the equivalent of unchecking the checkbox in the user interface), set the value to 0.
