Service under warranty

I am considering buying a Samsung 52" LCD HDTV from Best Buy, but I am concerned about the service availability under warranty. I live in Morganton, North Carolina, 15 miles from the Best Buy in Hickory, so pickup and delivery could be a problem. What is Best Buy's policy on servicing TV's you sell?

In the event that we do not have a repair technician in your area, we'd be glad to locate a factory-authorized facility on your behalf that is able to assist you.

Best Buy™ technicians are able to provide support for most of the products we sell under their original manufacturer's warranty, in addition to products no longer covered by a warranty for a fee. Remember that while your factory warranty is still in effect, you may always contact the manufacturer directly for service and support as well.

In some cases, products may need to be shipped to a service center in order to complete repairs, especially if they cannot be completed within your home. As a repair person of over 30 years experience I agree with you.

Sets are not being made to either be repaired or service info available as only boards are sold---in some cases NO PARTS were ever available/sold.

Smart people who with service info etc could fix the unit are shut out--once the set is past the original warranty they are not interested in helping you or me.

Several companies recently produced a run of over 50 thousand identical sets---they made no additional parts, no service literature is available,---idea was quite simple---sell all except for a small percentage---any that fail in first year----just exchange--after that the poorly made sets can fail and unless someone had a extended warranty they are out of luck---PS: what happens here is the company "goes out of business" and is off the hook---only to appear again somewhere else under a new name.

Best defense is the Extended warranty---over 80 percent of the sets in our shop are under 3 years of age=====either do that or be prepared to buy a new set every three years=my personal experience is average life span on these sets is 3-5 years and dropping every day.

Sometimes if you buy cheap you get cheap.

This will require a service center to fix. The pink line gets caused by the control board when it fails. If it is under warranty contact Samsung.

I am a Samsung certified Tech, they do have problems but when the LCD screen was replaced and the main board, they sould have replaced the FR board also

I have a samsung tocco lite ( s5230) and the screen is broken. apparently it needs a new lcd. where can i get one of these and would i be able to replace it myself?

you can buy a new lcd but, then your warranty of that phone will expire because you opend it. for the best way, if your phone is at warranty, go to the repair center, they will replace the lcd.

Won't turn off unless you unplug picture appears on the screen it's just blank, no sound.

This Unit needs to serviced at a service center for possible failures of the power supply board and maybe the video board. if under warranty call this number for Insignia customer service: 1-877-467-4289. If not under warranty you must take your unit into a service center or have a mobile service technician test the unit for the above mentioned problems. You can search for parts on this unit on the Best Buy parts website by putting in the model number of you television and have it search for all available parts. Picture has shadowing or ghost like images

This unit is getting distortion form the video circuits, most likely capacitors or resistors causing distortion to the input or output circuits. This problem could be caused by a bad video amplifier also ,which is distorting the signal. This problem needs to be checked with an oscilloscope to follow the signal path and find the source of the distortion. Usually this is best handled by a service center. If the unit is still under warranty call this number for Insignia customer help : 1-877-467-4289. If the unit is not under warranty, you should take it to a service center and have an estimate of the problems and repair costs. You can find parts for this television at the Best Buy parts website. Find a local service center in your area that services televisions and ask them how much they charge for checking out your television and telling you what wrong with it. If you find the prices too high keep trying until you find one you can live with. You can get parts for the television on the Best Buy parts website. You just have to put in the model number and the parts finder will show you all the available parts for the model and their prices. I have a 42" 720p Insignia Plasma hdtv, same thing happend, screen just turned black but sound is still ok, tried to turn off TV for 15-20 min. but still no luck. One of the forums says it might be a fuse...

This is a failure in the power supply board and maybe more. the unit should be tested by a service technician to check for the problems.The problem could be a fuse in the power supply but is probably a component failure.Insignia customer service number is 1-877-467-4289. They might send out a mobile tech to check it out for you.Maybe they can fix it at your house If not they will take it with them for service. Insignia lcd 37''powering off and right back on by itself!

This unit is going into protection mode due to some erratic voltages causing the feedback circuit to activate the protection mode. This could be caused by aging components and overheating.You should take this unit in for service by Best Buy if it is still under warranty. If not you must try to have someone test and repair it for repair it for you.
