Windworld III has mind of its own -- light comes on any time it likes fan changes speed

I have the Hampton Bay Wind World III with remote -- the bottom light does not work (bulb is good, checked with another fan of the same kind, new ballast too). Also changed remotes. Fan in on manuel and all at once changes speed. It shows low on remote but is spinning at med. Now the upper light decides to come on with out notice sometines when the fan changes speeds. Problem first started as just the bottom light not working and now the fan has this problem. Any suggestions fan is 3 years old (purchased in 2005)

This sounds like one of the most common problems with Hampton Bay's remote-contolled fans...either the transmitter (remote control) or the receiver (mounted in the fan, typically inside the ceiling canopy) has gone haywire. A circuit has blown or something is short-circuited, and it has a mind of it's own. The only fix is to replace the receiver and transmitter, which are relatively cheap and sold as a pair at your local Home Depot and Lowes.

Hope that helps! If you ave any other questions, feel free to ask!

This is the Windward III with dual fluorescent lights. Both ballast transmitter and receiver are all defective. Contact King of Fans at 1-800-330-3267 and request the replacement for all three parts.

My Hampton Bay ceiling fan runs only on high speed and the remote has stopped working even after changing the batteries. Does Hampton Bay have a life time warranty?

Yes, look up www.hamptonbay.com and get their contact number from them. It sounds like your transmitter (Remote) has failed. If it were the receiver the fan would most likely not work at all.

Changing the light in a 54shrl

Redington III. The remote receiver is integral to the light kit. There is no replacing the light kit, you can, however change out the glass, but you're stuck with what you got.

nothing wrong with the power supply, or the remote, the speed switch in the fan is faulty, as it is more finiky than a manual speed change(like with a cable)

You must use the switch on the fan itself.
