If you had a dimmer switch in conjunction with the fan you probably did burn it up. You have to have motor controls that are compatible. It does take a few days to burn it up. More details please.

Why did fan and lights stop working?

If you are controlling lights and fan only with the remote - no problem. Once you start flipping switches, the remote control loop is broken. You can restore remote control by setting the wall switches to off, turning off power at the circuit breaker (or fuse), and waiting for a few minutes during which you will be removing the battery from the remote and pushing all buttons, then reinstalling the battery. When time is up, restore power and try the remote. If no luck, check to be sure the wall switches are set to off and repeat the routine.

How to operate fan without remote controls

Hi, Your actual question was about overriding the circuit and not using a remote. What you want to do is hook up a wall switch

Your question actually is answered on this page

Look under converting to 3 speed - number 4 - it cannot be done unless your fan has a remote bypass switch.

Connecting wires

You are just missing one wire to all the circuits. The ones that work are good ... add the one wire that is not hooking up to the others to complete a serial circuit.

Fan on the ceiling fan works, light does not, it is an Emerson unit wall switch only not remote control

Try pulling the chain once and then try the wall control. Is it a wall REMOTE or dual control? Do you have the number of the wall control?

The remote controls the fan speed but wont dim or control the light. the unit wont work if the light switch is off so I cant use the fan at all unless the light is turned on

mcdevito75 here, Generally the Ceiling fan motor is hooked up by-passing the wall switch but still to the hot laed going to the wall switch whlie the lights are hooked up to the hot lead after the wall switch, So without the remote, Manually operate your fan and lights. First with the wall switch off the fan should work and the lights no work. Now turn the fan off with the pull chain on the fan shroud close to the ceiling. Now turn wall switch on and lights should work with wall switch and the fan should also work. if so, re-program the remote or change the batteries or even re--place the remote.

We have three hunter fans w/ remotes. need to change frequencies How To ?

Hi, unless the fans/ remotes have code/ identity setting switches, then not possible.
you could however try shielding the front of the remote (simulating a tube) so the IR beam can be selectively pointed at each fan for individual control (works well for TV walls)

My new fan with light fixture is hooked up but it only works through the pull strings not from my wall dimmer. Can someone please tell me why and what do I need to do to have it work from the wall dimmer....

It depends if the fan and lights are ran for separate control. If only one power line is ran from the fan to the switch location than you are out of luck. You should install a switch instead of a dimmer because a fan is not designed to work with a dimmer. A dimmer works by rapidly turning the power on and off faster than our eyes can detect creating a dimming effect for lights. This is not good for your fan. The strength of the fan speed will be limited by the dimming/power output of the light dimmer.

Hampton bay fan, wall mount remote control

Hello burrow31. There maybe a switch located on the fan stating 'remote/manual'. Check your manual. Remove the battiers in your remote and short out the battery contact terminals. Reinstall the battiers, start the fan and after fan has reached set speed press & hold fan speed button for one second. Still no speed change contact the Mgfr. with model & serial #.

Read this on another thread - apparently the solution came from HB's tech support.
Turn the fan speed to HI and then select Reverse.  You should hear a "click" and see the fan reverse direction.  It seems that the reversing relay only works when the fan speed is set to HI.
Good Luck!!
