Problems setting up Motorolla GM300

I just got a reconditioned GM300 but I seem to have it set up wrong. The channels seem to be programmed correctly as I can transmit to an HT and receive the signal fine. But when I try to receive on the GM300 I hear nothing. I have tried it with the squelch both on and off. When the squelch is on the tx light flashes. The speaker seems fine since the volume of the static with the squelch off is deafening.

Thank you for any help.

Respectfully,
Phil

It is either a programming problem, such as the Rx is not programmed correctly OR your radio needs to be looked at by a technician to determine the issue.

MY BK EPH5102X makes a ringing sound when I push the PTT button. I have programmed several channels into the radio and that all seems fine, but it does the ringing sound on ever channel whether programmed...

It thinks the channel is "busy" when you hit the button. Set the squelch control until it doesn't hear a signal if there's no intelligible signal present, or set the CTCSS tones to a valid value for your system. The EPH is a very good radio, but generally takes an experienced technician to program it properly.

What channel should i set my motorolla walkie talkie to get the best distance? It seem not to wok beyond 1/4 mile on channel 3.

You didn't mention a model number, so I don't know if your radio is an FRS or FRS/GMRS model. GMRS channels have more power output than FRS does, but GMRS also requires a license for operation. Other than that, the frequencies are so close together that there is no distance advantage gained by changing channels. The manufacturer's distance claims on these radios are pure advertising gimmicks - the radios are line-of-sight only, so if there's anything between the transmitter and receiver, the signal will not get through.

There are a select number of preprogrammed channels available in the T5930. The programming cannot be changed by software. Sorry. Here is a link to the manual http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T59xx_User_Manual_E.pdf Programming instructions begin on page 18.

Best regards.

No communication with one of my motorolla T6550 radios

I believe you have a defective microphone in the bad one. Since you have a new warranty, I suggest that you use it and don't wait around.

Hello Guys..how to channelize my 2way Radio Motorola Radius Model

The GM300 is dealer programmable using Motorola proprietary software, a programming cable and radio interface box (rib). (Or on some models a ribless cable). I will continue to look for a user guide pdf. If I locate one I will post it.

2 way radios

Your radio with model number M33GMC09C2AA is a GM300 made for Central Asia, Eastern Europe and Turkey. It is VHF 25 watt with 12.5 channel spacing. It will do frequencies between 146-174 MHz. It should be able to be "read out" by a Motorola dealer. If it has been in a boat, it most likely is programmed with Marine frequencies. If you have another marine radio you may be able to determine the frequency by process of elimination.

The wiring kit for power is readily available for around $18 ea. If your boat has a marine VHF antenna onboard, you will be able to attach the antenna to this radio. It takes a mini-PL connector.

Motorola GM300 Question

Check your antenna connections and coax for loose connections or damage. Also check your hand mic. See if the problem disappears if you turn on the radio without the mic attached. The two most common problems with a mobile radio are antenna and mic problems.

If you feel these are in order, it would be wise to have a tech look at the radio.
